Chris is a good mate of mine who's allways done the right thing by me & when peeps do that I return the compliment
Whilst I'm doing up his goat he's stripping down my Yamms & going through them.
Should be done this week maybe by Flyday unless we have to send anything out.
After today I had the itch to pull lures out wide esp with the seas the way they were
Wot a magic day maybe next weekend

Got a fair bit done considering I've been lazy & spending alot of my time shit stiring Chris's customers
Didn't take a pic of it but the centre consol is done chris fitted the steering into it yesterday
Pic below is the end result of the transom layout & it's pod pic shows it all tacked up since pic was taken I've fully welded it & cleaned up certain welds smooth
There'll be a 60 HP 4 banger powering the goaty when the time comes
Pic below is an internal zot, wot I opted to do with the floor layout was to cut scrap strips to the profile of boat & weld them in, tis alot easier doing the cutouts required this way not to mention how precise ewe can be when butting it up to the boats side skins think biggest gap I had was 2 mm's
Benefits doing this way is all that's required when time comes is a small bead of sikaflex in the corners & this will eliminate anything fallingdown into the hull, all the floor panels have been cut & fitted & these will be screwed down when time comes.
Not a great deal left to make now, have done all the rails but wont weld them on til last, just a few fiddly bits to do around transom
Goat should be ready for paint early next week

I reckon you have made built and modified more boats than any of the big builders out there....
I reckon you should put your naming badge on all of them....

hey jumpy ,,i noticed that your useing the unimig ,can any gas mig be setup to weld aluminium?,,,jas
Jumpus GooDarus
Feb 3 2010, 12:27 AM
Yep jason any MIG machine will do both AC & DC
Dont even have to flick a switch
Dont ask me how cause I dont really know
TIG on the other hand is different & ewe have to designate either AC for alloy, brass , copper etc or DC for stailess, mild steel
Mentioned earlier that I've been terrarising Chris's customers
Tried selling a guy another customers ski boat told him he could make alot of $$'s from it smuggling refugee's into oz fit @ fits least 30
Another guy rolled up in a volvo & I had to ask how long he'd been a Doctor ??
He looked @ me funny & said he wasn't a doctor
I replied
Well ewe dont look Chi Nee so ewe must be a Doctor
jasonb
Feb 3 2010, 12:30 AM
thats a beauty ,so its prolly just a matter of buying the right wire for the mig then ,,jas
Jumpus GooDarus
Feb 3 2010, 12:44 AM
Welding shops will tell ewe to use 1.2 mm
Dont listen to them .9 mm is the way to go, ewe have more control of the weld but use 1 . 2 mm tips with the .9 mm wire

Why the pod Jumpy.
Now don't get all defensive on me it's only a question because I don't see any advantage.

QUOTE (Fed @ Feb 4 2010, 07:28 AM)
Why the pod Jumpy.
Number of reasons Fed
Chris's wife just gave birth to their 7th kid [ I call the tribe Chris Chillas & the 7 Dwarfs]
Even asked him if he wanted to adopt Salty as a supervisor
If ewe have a look @ the original pic ewe'll see the transom is just a drop down personally I dont like them in sloppy conditions they will take water through the back esp with the goaty getting a 4 banger fitted with it's extra weight.
Kids dont weigh as much as adults & ewe dont want to scare the crap out of them cause they'll never want to go fushing with the old man again so we decided to close in the transom.
Came into the goat 36 cm's & would've had to come in another 30 cm's without the pod being there to have allowered the motor access to tilt up for transit
If that answer appeases your curiosity ??
How about laying me a Golden Egg
Half an engine well and half a pod makes perfect sense to me.
You going to paint it?
Jumpus GooDarus
Feb 3 2010, 01:43 PM
Yeah going to go see another mate of mine this morn to see if I can use his spray booth else there'll be to much overspray doing it @ chris's & dont want to get it over customers goats.
4got to mention the goaty builders plate allows for a 50 hp motor & we want to go 60hp
With the work being done to the transom goat could sport a 80 hp without any probs
So all I have to do is stamp out my own builders plate include the HP rating of the motor & chris wont have any issues with insurance co's

My boat's looking a bit bare Jumpy, has Viva got any boat stickers or have you got some FOZ ones yet?
Jumpus GooDarus
Feb 8 2010, 04:04 AM
No more viva sticker Fed mind ewe they were pretty fugly & I refused to put them on my goats
They do have the new LOX stickers they do look good but again I refused to put them on my goats until I worked out a way to cut them down so as they would not make my colour scheme look shitty on the new wittle goat.
Actually looks goodarus the way I've done it & only fitting to have them on considering the boys supplied every LOX rod used on that goat & there's generally @ least 6 doz or so on board.
Stickers looked crap on their boat as well till I ripped them off & re-modified them, nothing wrong with the stickers they look pretty OK, just needed sum of the black taken out to blend into goats paint jobs
Got a fair bit done today even started preping Chris's boat a couple of days & it's paint time
Maybe tommorro or next day we start putting my Yamms back together, put it off till I finish the goat cause I wanted to be part of the Yam re-build

Keep 4getting to take the camera put it on the table next to my keys so I'll remember it 2morro.
Anyways the boat is coming up a treat chris is getting a Stiffy so I have make sure I dont Ben Dover in front of him [bloody gleeks]
New anchor well, braket for the Lecky bla bla are all done now
Positioned console & seat box into the boat all needs doing now is to mark them on floor so weld in the required stand off brackets etc
Just wun more thing to make up & that's the seating up front which will also act as a casting platform it'll be very similar to the wun I put into Bees boat
Guess wun more day maybe 2 & I'm all done

Well peeps Tu Day was !
Ferris Jumpus Bueller's Day Off Felt like crap this morn brurry heat is getting Tu Me
So I had a day of visiting here & there picked up my power heads & finally made it back to Sea Sea velly late in the arvo & did take a few crappy pics
Pic below is the front of the boat, only added the seating arrangement , lecky bracket & welded in a heavier plate for the thingamajiggy roller the rope goes through
All the floor is done , hard to see in pic but the rails are also done so is all the transom section exept for the bait cutting station
I welded pads to the floor for seat box to sit on & similar will be done for the centre console
Overall when I did have everything [seatbox, console] in the boat to lay out floor space this goat has got plenty of walkaround

i reckon a strip the same colour of your boat ,green and purple about 2inchs thick each of them,,,hey can ya extend my little 3.4 to about 5mtrs to please jumpy,,,jas
Thats what they did to one of the boats I used to work on Jase. I wrote reports every month for about a year, to try and get the 25ft Trojan upgraded to a Shark Cat. The W.P. didn't have any at that stage, so they did what Gov Deps do, and sought tenders. Markham, up in Pt MaQuarie won the tender and gave me a 'stretched' 18ft Whaler. The lengthened it to 26ft, but didn't increase the beam. What a joke!!! After that, the W.P. got 3 cats and sent them to other locations. I already had a twin hull, so all my work didn't pay off for me.
If JG stretches yours, make sure he doesn't widen it or make the gunwhales higher.
Nice breather cover.
The boat looks excellent Jumpy, time for you to go fishing mate.

Have to make a shade cover for my mates tinny the black quinny in the Bream Baits thread no hard top just the frame work & he'll get a cover made for it
Also a bracket up the nose for a lecky like mine he's finally got my point about the lecky allowing ewe to get in real close for the squiddys
