I got involved with this a couple of years ago helping here and there, building this or that. Then last year I really opened my mouth and took over the operations , ummm what was I thinking? This is a bloody volunteer thing. I guess I can give it up if things don't work out.

Some pics and what it is.

What: Pacific Fisheries Enhancement. White seabass recovery.
What is it? : One of 12 grow-out pens (in Socal) recieving of white seabass fingerlings @ roughly 190 days old, holding
them for approx 5 months feeding them till they get to a size of approx 11"
Where: Newport Beach, California
Fingerlings: From Carlsbad, Ca. Hubbs Seaworld Hatchery. Minimun size for legal catch, 28".

My volunteer office:

Some closer up pics (and the last release).

My best friend Mila on patrol for seals

working the fish into position

Doing the other important stuff, weighing, measuring, wanding ( checking for tag) then
releasing.

Making sure we have them all

(wtf? pic links are being dnied?) OH Friggen well. More chapters I guess. Fingers crossed.

More to follow. Just getting ready to get more fish. Oh, have pics of the hatchery as well.
Gotta make this a multi pic/ write-up as I messed up on the last 2 attempts.

There's something velly similar here in Botany Bay
I often wondered what they were growing in there as you're not allowed within 50 meters of the structure.

One day I got talking to one of the guys & was allowed to get closer for a sticky beak.

Good thread ocsawdust think it will be interesting as more info is given

Had a guess they might be big if the legal limit was 28".
I also guess they put up a good fight.

They are not an annoying fish at all. Known as the grey ghost. Very hard to come by. I got one by accident. And not a legal size. And I might add a AWESOME eating fish.

That here be a big NICE fish.

So you've seen Bloody decks? As the water warms, that site warms as well.

You guys are great. Can't wait to put out the word I'm coming your way!

I can put peeps up in Costa Mesa or Dolores, Colorado if any ones interested in traveling this neck of the woods. Short term of course. tongue.gif

They are VERY tastey. They fight like a freight train, when hooked they just GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. You can see your line out of the water 75 meters out.Crazy. Love to help out doing what I'm doing though.

I'm not a big fish eater ocsawdust

And those kungy's definately aren't high on my favourites list.

Got sick & tired of catching that species a couple of decades ago & the fish in the pic was the average size around here.

These days I virtually have them around the boat every trip out & generally ignore them but whoever is on board tend to get stiffy's & get all exited laugh.gif laugh.gif

I've been known to hide nets / gaffs whenever somebody has hooked one & dont they get the shits with me hysterical.gif hysterical.gif

Mate just a wittle tip for you as I noticed you'd mentioned you had some probs D/L ing images

What I did with that kungy pic in my previous reply was velly simplicity tongue.gif

When the pic appeared on my screen back @ the Bloody decks site !

I put my curser over the pic & right clicked it

From the menu that appeared I then clicked on the pics Properties

From it's properties menu you'll see a URL Address

Do a copy & paste into the IMG option here & whalla no need to D/L , Up/L anyting
