Got the boat back in the water on Tuesday to burn off some premix and check the oil usage.
So far so good but I will need to get up into the boat today to measure the oil usage but it looks to be about right for the fuel I used. I was a little disappointed in the WOT speed & RPM, it would only pull 32 Knots at 5300 RPM and to be honest I was expecting a little better after going from a 70HP to 90HP. My clapped out 70HP used to wring out to 27 Knots which I thought was pretty good. Acceleration was awesome on the 90HP and it pulled hard all the way up to 5300 RPM then didn't want to go any higher, almost as if it had a rev limiter on it. I suppose 32 Knots isn't too bad combined with a hole shot that could leap small boats in a single bound and definately not worth fooling around with props over. To cut a long story short, I'm a happy little vegemite. -------------------- SEAFARER: Fine as a Fairy's Fart |

Good job Fed, Sounds like you have it sorted out, what was the prob? WOT specs should be only 5500rpm and if you pull 5300 it sounds ok, if it leaps out of the water your prop could be a bit small, If I was a bit closer you could try another one I have a 19pitch and 21pitch I sold the 17 but thats probably what you have, if you have a 15 I would see if you can borrow a 17 from a dealer and try it ,same goes if you have a 17 try a 19, my 115hp would cavitate with the17 and not be able to get out of the hole, and it would cavitate on turns at 42knots with the 21, but it is a Fast Strike motor with a WOT rating of 6500RPM. Cant hurt to borrow a prop and give it a try.

It should all be 'full speed ahead' from now on fed. All you have to do now is convince the missus to give you some more money for essentials.

On a funnier note the bay was a bit choppy yesterday and no matter how much I explained to my missus that we're better off powering through it I finally gave in to her nagging & slowed down.
Straight into a short steep trough, dipped the bow and had a flood of water straight up the windscreen and all over her, also had the front hatch cracked open so there was water everywhere. I bet she believes me next time. -------------------- SEAFARER: Fine as a Fairy's Fart |
