Just wondering if anyone has heard of anything from Martin.
I have not heard a word from him since he left my place with my boat on his roof and fishing gear in car.
Not that I am particularily worried about anything but I would have thought someone would have heard something from him.
Last I heard he was in Perth but that was a fair while ago.

Well he is Asia but for 4 months here is a quote off his blog.

We’ll stay in Perth for a few more days to sort out our stuff, buy the last supplies, get some more shots and then go up to Gingin -just north of Perth- where I’m leaving the car with a friend of our Irish housemate for the four months we'll be in Asia. Then on Monday the 1st of June at ten minutes to ten in the evening, our planes leaves for Singapore. We’ll be there at the ungodly hour of 2 or-so am before flying out to Jakarta at 7.40 am. That’s when the new adventure really starts and I’m sure it will be accompanied by plenty of blogs to keep you guys up to date.

I believe he is due to arrive in Oz soon or has already. He has just farewelled his (girl)friend and put her on a plane back to Germany and was a bit saddened that he had to continue his trip around oz without her.

But I suggest reading his blogs, quite entertaining and adventurous. You can also quite regularly catch him on MSN

Won't say what I am thinking before I find out what is happening, only to say I spent a full 3 days working on his car for him getting it ready for the trip
as well as lending him the boat I also lent him a beach fishing outfit worth a couple of hundred dollars and a tackle box full of gear worth about another 100 dollars.
Just dissapointed that all I done for him, and he can't even send me a email to let me know IF i am ever going to see my property again.
It's not knowing what upsets me.

hmm some people are unbelieve, i hope you get your gear back mate, you helped him out heeps and i just hope he brings the gear back to you and maybe a case or 2 of beers for your toubles,

Hey guys (and especially Frank),

I obviously did not skip the country for good without returning to Sydney. Frank, after all you did for me and the kindness you showed me I would never do that to you! I'm very grateful for all the help from everyone on this forum (Frank, Jumpus, Jack and Haji among others). I wish you'd given me a call or text as I was already back in Perth when you posted this.

I should've probably kept you in the loop more often but between everyone here and back home it's all I can do to keep my blogs up to date. Since I thought you were following me there I didn't think it would be a problem since I clearly stated that I would be gone for 4 months before coming back to Aus. Still, you are right and I could've at least sent you an email when I realized I wouldn't be back in Perth at the end of 2008 as originally planned. Time flies and internet coverage is patchy but that's really not an excuse.

So I am sorry for that and I'll try to keep in touch with you guys a bit more for the last few months of my stay here in Aus as I hope to see you all in good health and good cheer when I come back to Sydney in March, rather than chasing me down the street with pitchforks and torches!

Frank, mate, I'm really sorry. All your stuff is still safe and in good shape and I intend to keep it that way until I return it to you at the start of next year, with a few cold ones for your trouble, obviously.

As for my plans, well for now I'm back in Perth again where I'm looking for work as the bank balance is running a bit low to say the least, but there's too many bloody backpackers and not enough work ;) At the end of January a friend of mine is coming over (the same who travelled with me from Broome to Perth) and he'll travel with me for a month from here to Sydney, so I expect to be there early March, sell the car and hopefully see some of you again before hopping on a plane to my beautiful girlfriend in Germany. Never thought I'd end up with a girl from Germany but then this whole Australia trip has been full of things I never expected. All I can say is that you guys don't know how lucky you are to live in this country with such great people and it saddens me that I appear to have abused that good nature.

Anyway, all the best for now. As I said, I'll try and stay in touch a bit more. For some pics of Frank's gear in action(not sure if I already posted these):

Fair call Frank, I only lost 1 day but all seems fine. It only takes a few minutes to send an e-mail and the same to post on here-guess blogs and msn keep the limited internet coverage all taken up.. Yeah I'm a skeptic, far from upset but do think its a bit rude.

Thx Bees. I'm not having the best time at the moment, actually. But I really shouldn't complain. It's just that I travelled with a group of people for about 7 months, then they left one by one and it was just me and my girlfriend for another 6 months. Then suddenly I was by myself for a month, then my parents came over and I travelled with them for a month and now I'm back by myself again, money is running out and I need to get the car reregistered here in WA but that probably entails some expensive replacements since they seem to be trying to get old cars off the road a bit and are being pretty strict, and my cruiser isn't exactly a junior. What with the current economic situation and the increase in backpackers due to even worse economy in Europe, finding work is very hard. Anyway all in all it's been a bit of an emotional rollercoaster the last few months.

Jason, you're absolutely right and it is beyond rude of me (and I haven't forgotten your help on the car either), but time has just gone by so fast and I haven't been able to keep up with fish oz. I'm using a prepaid internet service through my mobile and forums like these eat up too much bandwidth and before January of this year I didn't even have that. To be honest the only times I've even been on msn was when I was in an internet cafe putting my blogs online, which is when I used to catch up with Jack but even that has been months. Other than that I just check my email occasionally. I find that if I spend to much time on the net, I get caught up in that and don't do the things I'm actually here to do.. if that makes any sense.

I'll put together a little (well, probably not so little) post in the next day or two with my story from a point of view that you guys might find interesting. I've done and seen a lot, to say the least.
