Myself and my mate Harry kicked off an overnighter on Wednesday. After rushing to the pick up point after work, we set off to our first spot in search of some jews. We ended up with three, but there was no size to them. I got the biggest at 49cm, it had a trace coming out of its mouth (visible in pic) so it's good to know that hooking these fish deep doesn't necessarily affect their feeding patterns. Although they could have cut it closer to the hook. All the jews had fin/scale samples taken (and were released) for the UNSW Mulloway Classic. I was just happy to get some samples. I also know the jew looks less than 49cm, but I have big hands.
We then set off to another location in search of squid. Harry had brought a prawn light, but what would you know it didn't work. This put a dent into the rest of the nights fishing plans, and whilst we flicked jigs there was no joy to be had. Thursday morning came, and after waking ourselves up from a night of maybe 1 hours sleep (or at least for me), we made plans to head outside of the heads in search of kings. We burleyed up yakkas and had about a dozen in the tank in no time. Unfortunately the weather wasn't as good as forecast, and it was pretty sloppy. We searched around for a bit but apart from a few momentary bust ups there were no kings to be found. We ended up settling on setting up a drift on some fishy looking ground and started flicking plastics. After a few drifts Harry came up with a nice snapper. A few drifts later, my turn! Harry then got another nice snapper for the table a short while later. They were only pan sized, but neither of us were complaining. They went pretty hard on light gear. By noon the wind had picked up and we decided to head in. We tried for flatties but could not hold the bottom. I managed an undersized one and one that was in the high 30's. Both went back, they're not really worth keeping under 40cm. By mid afternoon we were wasted and just relaxed. It was a productive two days, some new spots were found and new techniques were learnt. Between us ended up landing a bunch of species, namely snapper, jews, bream, cuttlefish (lucky catch for me on a plastic), pike, red rock cod and PLENTY of dirty sergeant bakers. We only kept the three snapper, mine tasted lovely! -------------------- DANCE!

Googlefushy that looks nothing like Harry Potter the guy is an imposter, dosen't even wear glasses
Sounds like you had a GooDarus time & caught a few wittle fishys I'll just add a few tingy's to your report since I haven't fushed personally Good reliable sources who dont Bullshitta me have been informing me that the Bay & it's surrounds have been firing supa hot the last week Last weekend apparantly really turned it on boys from viva fushed Marys reef left the snapper biting cause sum bloody got rolfing the snapper were so thick they were coming to the surface to eat the vomit. Not pan size fish either fish were between 1 kg - 2 1/2 kg In the Bay the Kungs have fired as well but sum bloody wouldn't risten to me the week B4 when they told me they couldn't get any squid to troll Told them not to waste their time in the Bay with all the dredging etc, squid are a hell of alot more productive in clear water as they can see the lure from quite a distance away in dirty water ewe need to just about land the jig on top of them. It's only a 5 mile run from Botany heads down to Jibbon get your squid there then motor back I told my mate but he wont risten Spend 2 1/2 hrs & only got 4 squid they went off as soon as they hit the water 4 kungs were landed 80cm , 75 cm & 2 65 cm's -------------------- Save The Fish, Eat a Pussy |

Well done C&R, did you try out the new ramp and I'm curious how you went at night with all the work going on in the Bay at the moment.

Mary's Reef, isn't that in Bate Bay? We went north instead of south. Hopefully the next time we do this we can have the same sort of action but with more size to the fish.

My mate went out to the Merries today. Burleyed for 10 mins and the back of the boat was teeming with trevally. He reckoned they were great fun on light gear. They kept a dozen of 1kg+ models. No snapper or bream - just trevally. And before you ask, CnR, yes they are eating them with the family. They released a couple of dozen fish in a couple of hours.

No snapper or bream - just trevally. No Goodarus being there when the fush aren't, boys caught there's a week earlier. Another ting to factor into the equation is not alot of peeps know how to fush shallow reefs successfully by that I mean how to anchor & which way to feed their baits in -------------------- Save The Fish, Eat a Pussy |

Everyone knows you put your anchor in the water and the same goes for your baits.
