George. This machine ( which you would know ) is now over 5 years old. It is still running perfectly with no apparent faults. But I have been told 5 years is old for a computer ?. So IF I were to upgrade with a new one what would you recommend ? and would you have a new you beaut unit . Not needing a lot of user space as this one is only less than 10% capacity, but I would want a fast machine as I am used to this one and NBN speed which I think is pretty good.
What would you suggest ?.

All the big company's use them Banks etc so they must do the job. And they are cheap. Haven't made up my mind yet as not sure I really need a new one, using computer less every week and these days don't really need much more than about 1/4 hour a day on the bloody thing, just habit that I sit in front of the think and scroll the screen.

lol Dell are mass produced and most are all in one so the graphic , sound are all just chips on the board . They are not a bad unit same as the Lenovos they have the bottom to the top in range that why you see a lot of refurbished unit as computers up date.
5 years well to be honest computers are out dated every 3 to 4 months with the developments of SSD , M2ssd ddr4 ram etc.
My computer I'm using is about 8 plus year old , with out looking at my records to your specs ,I would suggest a simply upgrade of a ssd hdd if your happy with the performance which start from about $80.00 for a 240gb or a 480gb and you would find the performance increased by about 20% plus eg I have a ssd in my unit load time was 1minute now about 20 seconds.
The i7 4770 they where discontinue about 2 to 3 years ago and the Dell Optiplex 9020 was about 2013 when it was released and discontinue in about 2016.
Like all computers it comes down to what you want them to do and that where the costs come into it like here are some refurbished I get offered to me every day and that is my cost which excludes Gst
Lenovo Thinkcentre M92P TINY Intel i5-3470T Processor 2.9Ghz 4Gb RAM 120GB Solid State Drive SSD Windows 10 Professional
$159 Ex
HP Compaq Pro 4300 SFF Intel i5-3470S 2.9Ghz 8GB RAM 500Gb HDD DVD/RW Windows 10 Professional
$149Ex
ZOTAC ZBOX-ID92 Intel i5-4570T 2.9GHz 4GB RAM 120 GB SSD Windows 10 Professional
$139 Ex

Dell Latitude E7450 Ultrabook Laptop Intel Core i5 5300u Processor 2.30Ghz 8Gb Ram 128Gb Solid State Drive SSD 14" HD WiFi USB 3.0 Webcam HDMI Windows 10 Professional 64Bit
$349 Ex
HP Elitebook 840 G2 Ultrabook Laptop Intel Core i5 5300u 2.30Ghz 8Gb Ram 500Gb HDD 14" HD USB 3.0 Display Port Webcam Windows 10
$329 Ex
Lenovo T450S Core i5-5300U 2.3GHz 8GB Ram 128 GB SSD 14" Win10P64 Webcam $329 Ex

All of these usually come from a University or a corporate company.

So my suggestion would be look at the these items SSD HDD , extra ram and maybe a cpu upgrade to your present box.

As for a new one I have heaps of parts available or premade units from my suppliers starting from About $800.00 up just for the box.
All come down to your requirements.
here is a couple for you
1) Ryzen 3200G Office PC, AMD Ryzen 3 3200G 4 Core, AMD A320 Chipset, 8GB 2400MHz RAM, 240GB M.2 SSD, 1TB HDD, Thermaltake Versa H21 Case, Windows 10 Home $825.00
2)Hornet Core i5 Office PC, Intel Core i5 9400 6 Core, Intel H310 Chipset, 8GB 2400MHz RAM, 250GB M.2 NVMe SSD, WiFi AC, Cooler Master MasterBox E300L Case, 420W PSU, Windows 10 Home $960.00

They are just a couple I can do.

Unfortunately all that computer jargon goes right over the top of my head. This one is still running fine so guess I will hang onto it for a while longer. No way I could pay that much for a computer.
