Had a guy ring me today telling me I am eligable for NBN and they are going to set me up with new modem etc.
I am with optus at the moment and I pay approx $90 per month, this gives me 250 gb broadband and all my phone calls except calls I make to mobiles that are not optus.
The guy tells me that this N B N is going to cost me $89 per month and that it covers broadband and phone and he says the system is much faster than normal broadband.
He also says that telstra optus and all the other broadband supplyers are going to become obsolete and there is no other choice than to go N B N.
This in my mind is taking away freedom of choice and first step towards becoming communism.

can someone tell me IF or not I should accept what they are telling me as the truth OR are they just saying this so I will sign up.
And what happens when the liberals take over in September ? are they still going to go ahead with this N B N sceme, I know they were dead against it when it was first thought up.

Well tell the person he is a total liar and needs to go back to school as both optus/ telstra are offering nbn service in certain areas already .

Was he Irish, did he want to trim your trees, did he offer to drive you to the bank oldtimer?

Good thing I didn't fall for his lying tactics. I told him to ring me back in a weeks time after I had time to talk with someone about it.
I can well understand how and why some elder members of the community get persuaded into doing things they later regret.

I will look into what Optus want to offer me.

My poor old computer has just about had the richard, but can't afford a new one.

Hey Frank, do you still need a computer ?

My dad recently bought home about 10 computers that got updated from his workplace, pretty sure i can throw all the parts together and make 1 or 2 running computers (my plans) which i can throw all the software you need and give to you for free

Dan. Thanks mate for your generous offer. This old wreck of a computer is holding up and doing most things that I ask of it for now. It takes about 10 or more attempts of a morning to get the old girl started, I press in the starter button and it gives an audible pronounced beep for about 5 seconds and nothing else, I then turn off and try again, sometimes I have to do this 10-15
times before it finally decides to start loading the start up format.
I will put up with it till I throw it through the window one day.

I have my lap top I can fall back on, but haven't got emails on that so have to down load a recover email site to view emails.

Thanks Dan but I will say no thanks.
