Went out wide today looking for the Runnus Fastest.

Off to a bad start running across the bay both motors died looked @ the water seperators & they told the story dropped the anchor else the wind would've blown us in container terminal.

I've said it b4 & I'll sat it again I run @ least 2 tanks in my boats & today was a perfect reason why fortunately the other tank was empty & fueled it up b4 going out.

After bleeding the fuel injectors & swapping to new fuel we were on our way turned the radio on when we passed some boats on the shelf & it looked promising fish were being hooked & landed not big the ones I heard were called in @ around 25 kg.

On the way out we did have baitfish breaking the surface when we went through them.

Anyways we were on our way to the southern canyons expecting to see other boats there such were the claims by those on the radio the ones who were getting the fish but not to be I think they were the boats back on the shelve cause the only other boat we saw was the charter boat Broadbill & I've had my marks for ages.

Which brings me to point out Dont trust GPS marks found on the net think thats where these guys got their's & a few I've tried from the net didn't marry the reef formation.

Well it was raining out there not to pleasant + the wind would come & go this make the drift near impossible to fish the canyons the way I like to not helped by very little current couldn't do the drift which has yielded me alot of success there over the years.

My ratchet crept over when I checked the bait it had been grabbed very good guess it was a striped tuna had them do this in the past, short time laterSTEVE got a run but ended up with a baitless hook & no hookup that one was more yellowfin than stripey.

Only fished about 1 1/2 B4 the Southerly started blowing so pulled in the baits conditions weren't bad but it was pissing down rain & STEVE didn't bring his rain gear & the rain looked like it was here to stay this time thought about stopping on the shelve & drifting there on the way in we'd beaten the rain there but thought bugger it wind was still getting up prob get out during the week & give it another shot.

DON'T GIVE UP JUMPY

The YFT are gonna get here in better numbers. I can feel it. They're heading north with the warm water and word is that the people around Narooma and Bermagui are BRAINING them! They are having great captures so expect them to come round our way pretty soon.

Bugger, it's time you ate some sashamushimi. Don't worry, remember what I said about preperation and raw YFT is some of the best sashamushimi you'll find. Bring some soy sauce and wasabi next time, in hope of some YFT sashamushimi. ;)

I reckon they've been here for a month just nobody got out with the bad weather we had.

Our fishing time was limited 2day due to the fuel prob but like I said the other boats got into them so they are out there.

Mind you we got an early start but didn't wet a bait till after 10 am by that time action had gone a bit quite on the radio but sure it would've hotted up in the arvo again had we stayed.

Did hear of a 80 kg fin taken last week on Browns & saw the pic of it today nice fish.

Yeah saw that one a while ago on fishraider. Bloody good fish on 15kg while cubing. Taken by a member on fishraider forums, I'm a member but barely ever post...coz they can't take a joke... tongue.gif dry.gif

Too bad about the fuel. You missed out on sashamushimi, but you could have caught that bird and had peeking duck with creemofsumyungguy. hysterical.gif hysterical.gif hysterical.gif

yes it wasn't the start we wanted, up at 5am had a coffee and toast then went to organise boat,
rods gear , ice emtyed the frezzer of old bait for burly . Jg was on his way picking up new bait and more burly. packed boat and went to feul up one tank was emty this turned out to be a good thing ,150lt. other tank had fuel, so off we went tongue.gif
launched boat parked car and we were off.
was about 7am. was exited cubing for Y/F is one off my favorites.
we had gone about 500mt. when one of the moters stoped. try as we might it wouldn't start. we boyh looked at each other in silence me thinking ^%$#*&^% why now it didn't sound like it was getting fuel, that emty cfanking sound  a few minutes later the other one stopped . crap. we put out the sand pick to hold us.
we saw that the fuel in the bowls was browny colour, theres water in the tank.
We pumped and drained the lines and bowls , switching over tanks we tryied again, no go dry.gif
There was still water in lines and chambers of engine , these motors have injectors. and we hoped that the water hadent stuffed them , there hade to be more water in engine system,
I located a small cap on injector manufold , and relised this must be a bleeder , it was like a bike valve I pressed it down and water just shot out . YES .cranking the motor put preasure in manufold again pressed valve more water sqirted out. this process was repeated untill clean fuel was gushing , same was done with other motor .
Finally on our way, it was about 10 am before we got to southern canyons. conditions went that plesent wind rain , hands getting cold cutting up frozen pillies for cubes. we did about 3 drifts going to quick with wind , on 4th wind had droped and rain had gone , things started to look good was refeeding my line out when it took off in my hands , here we go I yelled as I made sure line did not tangle on deck. picked up rod and nothing, starded to wind like crazy as thought fish was swimming towards me. nothing. Empty hook dry.gif fish managed to swipe pillie. that was about it for the next 5 min. the looked up to see a big front comming from south , radio talk was 25knt winds comming so we made a decission to head head back stopped at shelf but we both thought nah lets go home.

Having 2 feul tanks got us out of trouble , knowing something about your motors can get you out of trouble also .
so folks when heading out make sure your well prepaired.
and you can still have a good day. { thats if this F&^%$#@ N weather comes good .

cheers steve

Just look at their site (not that I'm advertising or anything) and just look at how prissy they are.

No poly

Water will always be @ the bottom of any tank the fuel floats on top of it & since the fuel pickup is @ the bottom of the tank the water will always come out 1st it's just a matter of hooking up the electric pump & pump out all the water till clean fuel comes through
