Well I was @ my old signage guys workshop 2day getting some reflective paper & inquired about stickers OK for 1000 mm X 1300 mm sheet cost is $100 & thats on the better 5 year paper not the cheap stuff & it comes laminated as well roughly translated around $3 . 50 per sticker if you were to go the size oz suggested.

Mind you that price does not included art work but that's a piece of cake all I have to do is burn it to disk & give it to him, advantage of this is we can have a multitude o artwork for example those who live out bush & fish freshwater can have say a bass, trout as the theme image, those who Gamefish likewise etc etc.

By doing the artwork can play around with sizes as well I've given it a bit more thought & dont think stickers on boats will be that crash hot !

I'll ask one simple question here ? How many times do you guys on average take your boats out ???????????????????

well ive been running dry for a while now, , but normally during winter id say the boats in the water every 2nd week and during summer the boats in the water about 2 times week, i agree we should put them on the trailers but i still reckon we should also be able to put them on our boats, i think it should be up to the member to decide where we put them.

what about colours ??????

id need a deep red or maroon if its possible and id take 5 stickers , 2 for the trailer , 2 for the boat and 1 for the car

QUOTE (Prawnstar @ Jul 13 2007, 08:17 AM) *
Hello

Stickers are ok but my dad thinks it might be putting the horse in front of the cart.
Stickers are a more feel good thing for the person with the sticker but it all helps its part of the over all marketing plane.
He said a good no cost way to promote the site would be to have every active member send an invitation to everybody in there address book even if they don’t like fishing they might know somebody that does or they might like cooking fish or jokes etc so beef up the non fishing stuff as well as the fishing things to create interest and ask every person they send it to if they could please help and send the invitation to the site to every body in there address book even if they don’t like fishing. Like a chain letter dad has been in media sales and marketing for over 15 years if that count thanks.

Prawnstar said it. I am a product of Majed sending me the link. It is that simple. I am still finding my way around the site. This is normal as many people need to be comfortable before voicing their voice!

I will take a sticker. It is just that I do not have a boat and so it will have to go on the Backpack or Bucket. I do most of my fishing rock hopping.

I actually was looking @ my little goat 2day after doing the pin striping & name dont really know if I want a sticker there to be honest so I took a snapshot of a pic to see what it would look like.

What do you guys think ????????????

Yes Christos !

You'll find everybody here who has bothered to post either got sent a link from somebody allreadt here or they do know somebody here.

I've yet to see any new member come across this site by accident & post futhermore I think if the stickers are going to work & there's a very good chance they will it's because someone has seen your boat for example @ the ramp & you've had a chat, or even if you didn't have a chat they may very well say hello if they come across a pic of the boat etc looking through the threads.

Just a quick note ,,print up some flyers get your members to print them out also maybe post a thread with the link to the flyer for downloading...Go walkabout and stick these on every free community notice board around the place, shopping centers, boat ramp info boards[most will let you if asked]and if you go jogging or walking in the day or evening drop a few off to houses with visable boats or caravans these peolpe are your targets....My new site is around a month old and i have around 70 members the other had around 500 but i chopped most of the non posters as they are a waste of space [[sorry but true]] if your not active why have the numbers id rather have 70 posters than 5000 with 70 real contributors.
Links, links links exchange everywhere you can its free and it works....
ask your local tackle shop to put a flyer up also most don't have a problem especially if you plug their shop in a trade section or the like...

anyways just a few ideas that worked for me .

It all still gets back to whats of interest on this or any site to keep peeps visiting or dare I say posting.

Still have to face the fact which I believe that only 1 or 2 % of visitors will ever post if that.

Most who do register only do so to scam email address's to spam & I've deleted peob about 500 such accounts it's slowed down a bit of late cause of all the ban filters but I can still see them trying to register but cant get through.

I personally know alot of fisho's & link to here was given to them not to mention link being printed in fishing clubs newsletters etc & till this day I have not seen one person register from any of that stuff.

I do however believe they visit but thats about it.

The thing is every site has a feel to it,some are friendly some are more distant. Its a niche area forums especially fishing forums...
The most members i have picked up would be from pin ups at community boards a lot of people with time on their hands visit these places . I created a poll on this very subject to monitor where they were coming form eg,,,did you see us 1.pin up 2,advertising material 3,links 4 and so on gives you and idea where to push ...
People will post and visit if they feel comfortable,i send out a lot of emails telling people not to be shy and post just to be part of the group some take notice some don't but every bit helps...
Im no advertising guru, but these ideas do work they may not send masses but every extra regular is worth gold to a site.Because these people make it worth while visiting...

Another thing that works is a random new member prize, you randomly pick a new member that contributes to the forum and send a small prize like a door prize say once a fortnight...Its good for the member and the sponsor or prize givers get free plugs also..

Mully we're what you might call a breakaway site here haven't been up that long & prob got started @ not such a good time either leading up to winter when not as much interest in fishing is about.

Most of us here used to post @ a bigger sire which used to delete anything which didn't suit their sponsors or the Moderators

If you notice there's no Mods on this site only oz & me & I've only had to delete the odd post all I ask here is here is for members not to swear @ ithers in an abusive manner.

You've prob allready noticed we tend to take the piss out of one another here & there's nothing wrong with that it's something you'd do anywhere in normal life & just have one thing to say about that if you're gonna dish it then be able to take it.

Mind ewe it's a bit unfair here cause all these mimkompoopy's tend to gang up on me for some unknown reason laugh.gif laugh.gif

Mate as far as sponsors & prize's etc go there are some threads about on the matter but like I said in those I have no probs getting sponsers can have them right away but wont all in good time.

But like I've said on many a time all the publicity in the world wont keep peeps here posting unless you give them threads /topics of interest to keep them here as you know the net is full of fishing forums & I'll tell ewe what we dont do to bad compaired to most of them considering the shoutbox takes away alot from the forums.

All you basically need is another 20 oe so new members like yourself who are willing to put their 2 bobs worth in & post in the forums & this place will rock we get the visitors but not the posters & same goes on any board only a select few actually post

Very true regarding the larger forums allowing you to make comments about sponsors or equipment that might shine away from their little deals behind the scenes and trust me I know what goes on behind closed doors...I too started with this in mind but isn't it funny how the sheep wont change from the monotonous posting and blabble,ok some do have good topics but everything is censored not to mention some mods think their professionals at fishing lol many could be beaten by my 3 year old.
Sites like this forum need more support, the break away from the standard B/S ,getting it is another matter all together....
But you look at the members 5000 members and maybe 40 regular posters thats pretty bad odds thats including the 20 mods and best buddys behind the scenes.
Every forum needs a mod but how the mod operates dictates a good or bad forum,,on my site [sorry if this is inappropriate] the tackle retailers and suppliers know they may get good or bad feedback and if they don't like this then bad luck I wont suck up to anyone some of their gear is crap and some is great take the good and bad and deal with it.believe it or not once you break the ice soooo many will pop their heads up and think far out we can actually make a honest opinion.

What you are doing here is great its what I strive for also,Again this is just my observation im no guru as I always state but ive been around the traps....Your site will grow for sure but the wait will kill you lol...

now im no media sales advertising expert, and i must say ive havnt picked up my fishing rods in almost 6 months, way to busy at work, but i will say this,

what is the sites targeting market ?
who do we want as members ?
where do we find those members ?

we target families/fisher persons
and any 1 who enjoys the outdoors,

now i really dont think it matters how many people join and dont make a post because im sure the mods, hehehe can put a program into place that deletes a member if they dont log onto the site in a certain time period, ie- if they dont log on for at least 6 months they are automatically deleted,

just because a new member doesnt make a post doesnt mean that they dont like the site and dont find the site to be interesting,
