Hey,
Since i sold the boat, this years resolution was a LB King. yesterday i was so close, Set my 2 heavy rods (10 kg) with live yakkas out. And while they were there i thought i'll get the 4kg out for a bream. put the pilchard on without any sinker, cast it. 3 secs later i felt weight on the line (to be honest i thought that should be a tailor, a lot of them in the area) and strike. At that time i understood that it aint any tailor. it took nearly all my 4 kg line. i couldnt even get a meter of line of him. dont you like that sound....zzzzzzzzzzz.... 10 mins later, same scenerio. its a shame that they didnt touch the heavier setups with live baits. yesterday they were enjoying their pilchards. oh well, at the end of the day i had my breams but no kings, next time... -------------------- Boris

QUOTE dont you like that sound....zzzzzzzzzzz.... I love that sound if a reel dosen't sing to me then it's not worth landing Boris said it time & time again the light outfits allways get the hits. As far as Kungy's go ?? Well just about every trip out we hook up on them using cubes. Yes they will hit livey's have no fear of that but I think you've got more chance on cubes. We went out for a fush last Monday , the day B4 tuesday & after Sunday ![]() Anyways we had annoying yakka's around the boat all arvo because of the burley trail, then out of no where up came 2 kungs yakka's were still there just staying clear of the kungs. The kungs were busy gulping up the cubes to pay any attention to the yakka's. So next time you set out 2 rods for Kungs mix your baits up use a dead live bait on one of the rods ![]() ![]() That way if the Kungs are lazy they'll go the dead bait -------------------- ![]() Save The Fish, Eat a Pussy |

So next time you set out 2 rods for Kungs mix your baits up use a dead live bait on one of the rods ![]() ![]() That way if the Kungs are lazy they'll go the dead bait Thats what i think as well. sometimes they're just too lazy to go after a live target if they have the dead option. And it is a fact that lighter outfits always winners, but what i thought was 10 kg still be fairly light for them. And by the way i did put a pilchard on the heavier ones, still no hits. What i thought was i would be able to land a king at 4kg because the place i fished was pretty clear and they both headed for the open sea (at least thats what i thought. hehe) Maybe they were the hoodlums??? But again. the zzzzzzzzzzzzzz sound. I had a few people watching and enjoying the sound too. And all of them were ladies ![]() ![]() -------------------- Boris

QUOTE Thats what i think as well. sometimes they're just too lazy to go after a live target if they have the dead option. Mate you've fished the bommy with me & as I've explained to you it's a reef which meets the sand bottom. Many a time if boats swinging in the wind unknowingly we cast onto the sans & on many occasions have been hit by flathead , you dont know they are there till you wind in & on @ least 1/2 doz occasions the flathead have only been wee wittle fullars about 20 cm's long & every time one of those comes to the boat be garaunteed a Kungy is following it they never take the flathead just follow the flatone all the way to the boat & these Kungs are the Jumbo versions easily 10 - 15 kg. So there you go, I figure it's curiosity more thean hunger but if there's cubes handy & I throw them in to the water those same Kungs will eat the cubes work that out. QUOTE And it is a fact that lighter outfits always winners, but what i thought was 10 kg still be fairly light for them. And by the way i did put a pilchard on the heavier ones, still no hits. If a Kung is hungry it will eat next time instead of a whole pilly use 1/2 or 3/4's of of one. You may have also read what I've said on many an occasion which is. I believe esp if fishing off a wharf etc which I suspect you've done, with a lighter line you'll stand more chance of landing the fish Dont be scared to let the kung run on a light drag most of the time they dont know they're even hooked let them run out clear of the wharf away from obstacles & tire them out away from structure, that way when you get line back on the spool & in close they should be pretty tired & give you less grief. Think to many peeps think it's best to just lock up on a fush but mate when you do that it's a signal for the fush to go harder & in the case of Kungs they'll go straight for structure & bust you off. I did this report some time back when Spud came up to the Big Smoke OK the kungs weren't massive but we did not lose a single fush all we were using was 3 kg outfits we had a ball & look how close we were to structure in the pics very easy for the kungs to have taken us there but they didn't cause we were only using about 1 kg of drag. http://www.fishing-oz-style.info/forum/ind...p?showtopic=752 -------------------- ![]() Save The Fish, Eat a Pussy |

I see that you set out to target one type of fish but ended up catching another type of fish.
It happens. Good fishing report. |

Jumpus you talk about light line kings off Longnose Bommie with editor Jimmy Harnwell on Thursday chasing reds on S/Ps and hooked kings of all sizes from large to larger to XXXX/OS on 2kg. and 6kg trace. Abloke of my age should know better don't you think. Reds to 6kg and Kings just bloody big

Arnie bet you Jimmy had a Bigus Smilus on your faces though huh ???
![]() Mate I've even converted Dave to fishing 3kg permantly & he's got some nice Kungs not monstersw but good fush on that line class & he loves it. Bet you dont recall the time on the Tubes many Many moons ago I'd spun up a frigate mackeral on 3 kg line 10 ft from the rocks a massive humungarus biggarus stupidus Kung foo'ey came out of nowhere & scoffed the frigate ?? Well guys the Kungy was in the 20 kg class & even on 3kg line I got it to within 2 ft of the rocks I was screaming to Anie & the others Get a Gaff , Get a Gaff Well they told me to get stuffed so I was comtemplating Jumpusing into the water & getting the Kung in a Headlock, but alas I was to late the Kung woke up & it wassee ya later sucka. Bloody thing spooled me didn't it , never to be seen again bastard of a thing even took my fridgetness with it. ![]() ![]() -------------------- ![]() Save The Fish, Eat a Pussy |
