There are a couple of large dealers on the highway. Sounds like you have done in an exhaust gasket. You will probably find the motor runs perfectly on flush ears but dies when in water and put in gear. -------------------- Frank

My motor on the little boat, did just about the identical thing. Turned out to be a sliver of plastic in the carbie, blocking the jet. Sometimes it would run without missing a beat, then it would do what yours is doing. Guess the plastic moved around a bit. Just something else you may be able to check yourself. Could be gum/fuel residue as well.

A wise man once told me that if you turn your motor off for half an hour you should treat it as a stone cold motor for restarting. By that I mean lifting the fast idle lever and be prepared to choke if necessary.
Could be idling a bit slow & your starting technique may need an adjustment, do you know what it idles at Pez? Failing that I'm with KK, crap in carby idle jet. Does your motor have butterfly chokes or does it have a fuel enrichment solenoid, either way it doesn't sound like your problem to me. If Frank means a blown exhaust gasket is leaking into the motor cowl area and weakening the fuel/air mix that can be easily tested by trying it without the cowl but again it doesn't sound like your problem to me. Edit: Just noticed Jumpy has changed his last post so if you didn't read it then some of this post won't mean much to you. When he's not around I call him 'Backflip Jumpy'. QUOTE A wise man once told me Talking about me again Fed ?? I did originally give a wittle burst in my original reply about butterflys maybe sticky that was last night I was tired & when read Pez's post my reply didn't make sense so i changed it to just fuel. Like I said twas tired & couldn't be bothered Tis a bit hard when your not there to see wot the donk was doing, by listening to the motor helps alot pretty sure it's fuel by that I mean cylinders aren't getting any, run across JB had everything opened up & motor wasn't staving so it ran. All it takes is a bit of crap to create a blockage really need to have been there but. Just out of curiosity pez pull out your sparky plugs & have a look @ them are they wet or dry -------------------- Save The Fish, Eat a Pussy |

I quite agree Jumpy, a little bit of crap in an idle jet won't affect WOT running but will sure play havoc with idle & starting.

I only ever disagree with him when he's wrong Jack, notice I NEVER argue with him about fishing.
