A trip down to GP had been arranged for the Sunday of the long weekend. Poly and Mrs Poly were already down there, as was Arnie Dog and his dog, Arnie Dog.
JG asked for a wake up call, so I woke around 4.15am and was too scared to go back to sleep for half an hour, in case I didn't wake up in time. Had to let the phone ring through twice, until JG picked up. I was surprised that Steve didn't come along, but heard something about smoke free zones and beauty sleep. Anyway Jumpus and I had the boat in the water by 8am. The breeze was starting to come up and we moved around a bit, to try and find some fish - on lures. Nothing was doing. The tide was racing in and the wind was picking up, but the fish were not playing today. The sun was very fierce though, and we all got burnt. At long last, Jumpus hooked a small flattie which came up to the boat without much of a fight at all - that is, until it saw the boat, then it realised it was hooked. A nice little lizard of 48cm. Many hundreds of cast and very little to show for it. I got one hit all day, and landed the last fish of the day, another small flattie of around 45cm. The wind was powering in at around 25knots now, and the river was very choppy, so we called it a day. Popped in to see Poly and Possum, so we all now had faces to names. Good to meet them. Jumpus gave Poly some hooks, Poly gave me some new poppers and I offered everyone a vegemite and cheese sandwich- which was declined. We then went around to see Bob (Arnie Dog) and spent an hour listening to tall tales, but true laugh.gif

We didn't catch many fish, but the trip was great and we had some laughs and socialised with good people of like mind. Have to do it again soon.

Well the day didn't finish so crash hot peeps.

Whilst winching the boat up back @ the ramp I noticed the winch strap was a bit frayed where it was sown onto the hook but couldn't see it being a prob for the drive home.

Well wasn't that a mistake when I dropped kk off everything seemed ok but between kk's place & home the hook wore through the strap crappy roads & all those speed humps wouldn't have helped the cause.

Anyways the safety chain did it's job but it had a bit of play so all the up & down movement played havoc on the winch post fatigueing the welds & I recon it was the last hump B4 entering home base that did the final damage.

Winch post sheared off the trailor & if it wasn't for the strap that I use on trips to tie down the back of the boat the boat would've ended up going through my tailgate.

Was dark by this stage & I'll have a look @ in the morn.

Oh nearry 4fot

Fixed kk up with a handline & thats what he got his flathead on , COULDN'T TRUST HIM WITH ONE OF MY RODS IN CASE HE GOT ANY IDEA'S ABOUT STEALING IT. laugh.gif laugh.gif

Oh great. That's a flattering pic. Who stole my hair? Reckon it was the Poly bloke.

Sorry to hear about the winch strap breaking. Lucky it didn't happen on the Kiama bends - you know, the ones where that nice lady gave you the finger and was yelling out how nice it was to drive behind you laugh.gif

I feel guilty that I wasn't there to help you wash the boat down, even thought it was YOUR large bottle of sugar and caffeine water that fell over and drained itself. Oops, also just remebered that I left an empty Coke can in the front of your car - sorry!!! biggrin.gif

kk not just the winch strap but the whole winch post sheared off the trailer when I looked @ it last night the boat had slid forward on the trailer by about 2 feet thats why I said I was lucky the boat didn't go through the tailgate been a bit lazy & sore this morn to go over & have a good look @ it.

in deed it was good to catch up at long last, its not so much the faces kk as i know u from the photos that are posted, for me it is the person behind the photo that is impotent, one would think that jumpus is a self opinionated boar laugh.gif of course this is not true he is a very generous and help full pussy cat, so once again this site has lead me to meet people that are truly worth knowing, and yes i would like to be able to get to gather soon and i will make sure u have the wright phone number biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

You're a mean, mean bugger, Fed laugh.gif That's a day under a felt hat, a raging NE and a bad photo. I reckon Jumpus has touched it up in photoshop. I don't do comb overs, although I have to admit it looks like one in the pic laugh.gif

I stand by my original thoughts though - you are a mean, mean bugger.
