Hey everyone i got one of those u beaut digital scale thingy's for chrissie & decided to test it out with Mr Bundy the other day .
We cracked a few rods out & loaded them up seeing how much drag we could put on
We made our way through the flick sticks & i was getting my Silstar powertip AKA Excalibre ready & made a few comments about it's strength when Al Bundy made some silly comment like ' my all pupose rod will kill that thing ' .
So the battle was on , i deliberately left the leader off my braid & rigged the braid straight to the scales & lent back gradually increasing the drag till i got just a smidge over 6kgs & was happy with that .
Then Mr Bundy had a go . Let me just tell youse that this thing is cheap Pioneer rod rated to about 5 or 6kg , hey it's cheap crap why would i bother checking out the rating , anyhoo he runs this Pre-Test (mono) line on it rated to 5.96 or something like that & i knew it would break under 6kg hehe
So Al's on the rod making all these big claims whilst loading it up when i noticed his drag sticking & started to make some comment but Al being 3/4's pissed brushed it of 'she's right Smell ' he says as he leans on it a bit more .
By this time i'm cringing & yelling out ' whoa whoa ' & the scales barely nudging 5kg .....
He keeps going giving it more & more then Whammo , whack , bang .
I look at Mr Bundy whose jaw has just hit the deck & i immediately start cracking up .
It broke waaay under the 6kg mark that's for sure around 5.2kg .
When we looked at the tip we were surprized to see it had not snapped but the tip guide had come off after the tip slammed into an overhead beam
We quickly put the rest of the rods away .
Probably the only Snappa he'll get with that rod . That'll teach him to put crap on Excalibre
