Looking at getting a setup to chase big fish and be able to stop em getting down to the reef (ie Kingys)

Going to run 50lb Braid and my considerations are a spinfisher 850 or a TLD 15..

Both run close to 300m of 50lb and are pretty durable rigs for a reasonable price..

What im getting at is which will be more friendly... Which is more versatile.... What do you think...

(should add, im hopless at casting Overheads!!!!) an advantage of the penn is its going to be much easier to cast!

It never hurts to have a heavy rig tucked away incase somthing you are getting busted off.

Considering I fish JB mostly and there are some killer kings down there I think it would be smart to have one if im going to have a livebait set... Just a little more insurance than a btr with 10kg anyway!

TLD's are not a casting reel & the spinfisher does not have the gear ratio of the TLD

TLD is more suited to live baiting

Personally I would go the charter special do an upgrade to carbon tech drag washers and she will pullas hard as a tld...
Plus the charter is easy to cast, will hold a decent amount of line is a lever drag and has a wind on level.
at around $170 not a bad setup once the drag has been done... drag upgrade is around $30.00 but woth the money.

The charters are a good buy if you dont like line guiding yourself also they still cast well...Acouple of bucks and carboon tech drags and its TLD specs...live baiting with a tld sux they dont cast well.....as far as jigging and livebaiting rod the tica jigsticks are a good option 21kg jig or livebaiter,Shimano Trevala Jigging Rods,t-curves,DAIWA Catalina Stick,JARVIS WALKER WhiteTail.
too may options too many good rods have fun finding one.

but honestly if you want to cast a livie or not be bothered with hand guiding line then the charters are bullet proof..and good value for money.
get a stroker rod and be done with the jig/and livie problem.

my setup for this is a charter special with carbon teck washers and my custom turnover 10kg rod all up around $450 very lifgt and strong and made for my specs.Dont forget a good custom made isnt much more than a off the shelf now days.[and you specify what you want]
