i am thinking of painting some of my jig heads in the hope of improving the hook up rate what is the best color to use and the best type of paint, one of the blokes a work reckons to use nail polish in bright pink.

enamals are great for this I never bother painting up my jig heads but white would be my choice or red[dark red]

If you would like to try improving your hook ups try a spray on scent like squidgy scents there cheap around $5.00 for 100 mls or so and smell exactly like prawns,garlic or anaseed depends on your choice.I have tried them all and found prawn to be best for added smell strength spray your pack generously when you open a new pack of SP's then next trip they will soak up the scent and it really does work...

Painting jig heads or colored heads never really changed my hook up rates, having said this lure studies of colors for attracting fish reds are the go. they imitate a fishes gills opening when feeding or when in distress [dying] therefore stimulating more interest in what the fish is doing..

Id try both wont hurt paint them red and use a spray scent and if you catch a ship load let me know because dinner is at your place ,,your shout

Some good points there Mully,my preference for scents is Ultrabite,i did'nt like the Squidgie spray on scent(jmo) and i can't describe why

craft shop paint little 100ml jars, then use your clear nail polish for a top coat
