Headed off to my spot near Wattamolla today, with the two learners in tow. Had a late start, as I needed to drop the car off to the workshop to replace the aircon compressor. It was a glorious morning, dead flat seas and no wind. Well that was at 6am, but when we got there at 10am, the NE was starting to kick in. Rick was already there for 2 hours, but had only landed three fish, so it wasn't looking all that good after all. Anyway, John got set up before me and put in a poor cast. The float was almost at his feet and he thought it was snagged, until it tore off and a nice fish was landed before I even wet a line.
The action seemed to be slow, but we got a down almost every drift. Bob landed a few fish and I spent very little time checking his bait presentation and casting technique. His baits were tending on the large size and after we trimmed them up a bit he started hooking fish. Floats had to stay down for 5 seconds before setting the hook. Bites came faster, after I changed the depth to only 1m under the float. John lost two floats - one to a fish, where I suspect his knot failed at the mono to braid join and one to a snag. On one drift, I saw a splash and my float shot under. I lifted the rod and only got braid floating in the breeze. My float bobbed on heading out to sea. It suddenly went down and wasn't seen again. My leader was frayed, above where the float was fixed, so I suspect a tailer had a go at the flouro red tubing which is on top of my floats. Darn!!! I only have a few cms left from a piece I bought 30 yrs ago. Can't find it in stores anymore. We called it quits and were surprised to find that 4 hours had passed. Rick had 12 fish, I had 10 fish, John had 9 and Bob had 5. We had all dropped fish trying to land them, so as it turned out, the session wasn't to shabby after all. 36 fish between four anglers and some big fellas amongst them. Rick had the largest at 44cm, then me at 42.5cm and 41cm. and John at 40cm. Fish are not as voracious as they were a month ago, but still plentiful.

I found a new pet in the backyard yesterday, a dirty big lizard. Got a pic of him then went to get the broom to smash him with and when I got back he was gone.

Poly, kkw, can take a joke.. He really does have a good sense of humour... He also gives it back as well.. Its what we do...
I like having a joke... Any other site in Australia would ban you... If it gives kkw the shits, he would say it...
Anyhow, I'm fishing Monday lads, so i expect my report to be pulled apart as always..

Lizards are savage reptiles. Attack with no provocation. Don't kill the bluey though, Fed. Even you, get it!!!
Looks like the lizard is safe for the moment, no sign of him yet.

I'd like to grow tobacco but it looks like a lot of rooting around.
Do you grow stuff Poly?
Anyone who's interested. Mondays catch and today's catch 6/12/11. Kept 4 on Monday and two today. Didn't kiss them, but released most. Gave a few away today (still alive and kicking)
You sound like you're getting bored with it mate, time for a run in the boat?
Never the less another good haul.
No, definately not getting bored. They are great fun and hard fighters. Love fishing for them. Really good eating, despite what others think. I go out nearly every Monday morning for a couple of hours off the rocks.
Ordered a new axle, hubs, springs etc for the trailer today, so I will be doing a few more boat outings soon. Still looking for a 70-90 four stroke I can afford.

no wonder you are so rich, you don't know how to spend it, so is it still building up in the account's???????? perhaps we best come over and help work out the best ways to use those cards.
Paul
You'd laugh Poly, I do have one of those money cards but no idea whatsoever on how to use it.
If I need to buy something I have to ask Denise to pay and if I go out alone I have to ask for some money before I go. She's like my carer.
