Sitting be side me on the desk is a Pen560 reel waiting to be put back on its shelf, the reel when combined with a 7/144 rod is used for fishing the surf,, bugger.
I'm just a bit ahead of myself here, let me go back to the start. Last WEDNESDAY my good wife informed me we had to head down to the bay on business at the weekend, Friday being my R.D.O. got me to thinking, if we are at the bay why not wet a line, good thinking don't you think.
Business complete by 1.45pm Saturday, its getting a bit late for a quick fish and then head home, it will be an over nighter, so we head up the coast to a spot we know well, bugger the place is booked out, now what, stuff it, drive till we find some where, and what we found was magnificent {racecouse beach tourist park} at Bawley Point 30minutes north of batemans bay.
There was time for a cup of tea and biscuit before the very short walk to the beach ,now to the conditions, the time is 3.30 high tide will be 5.45 and the wind would blow a brown dog off his chain {25 to 30knts from the east north east} and I am not making that up it was blowing damm hard. Still we live in hope that the wind will drop with the tide change.
First bait in the water at 3.50, not very far in , but in never the less , a burly trail was set, using bread and tuner oil administered from a home made pot and did it work, you bet it did, by 4pm 3 Salmon were on the beach, between possum and I we dropped another half dozen in the next hour, the session continued like this till after high tide when we called it quits.
5AM Sunday morning and possum and I are back on the beach for another crack at the salmon, they are still there and fighting just as hard.
Possum and I are strict catch and release so we only have a pitcher of an average fish.
I do hope you have enjoyed my little storey here are some photos
