Can anyone give me a description of how the Etec fuel & oiling system works?
quintrex101
I don't get what you want to know Fed laugh.gif

The E-TEC is just like a normal 2 stroke, you put straight Fuel in the tank Fed peeing.gif

& 2 stroke oil in the oil tank in the outboard

And they get mixed together during the outboard running or something i don't know outboards

Fed
Was talking with the master about this last week Dan and he made a call to his outboard guy but the info was just a little vague so I thought I'd put the Q here for a bit of discussion.
It seems that the fuel & oil don't get mixed in an Etec like a conventional 2 stroke.

My Qs revolve around where exactly does the fuel inject, ie: intake manifolds or directly into the heads?
Where exactly does the oil get injected (all points) and how does the oil eventually get to the combustion chamber to be finally burnt.

This post is partially to give Jumpy a reminder to collar his OB guy and I thought people might be interested.
Once we figure out Etecs then we try & figure out Optis, I think they're injected too but more like a conv 2 stroke.

DO YOU GET IT NOW?

Twit Top !

You just dont get it do you ????????? laugh.gif laugh.gif

Fed why ewe no rissen, told ewe how system works laugh.gif

All you did was repeat what your Ob guy told you and it was a bit vague mate.

Auto pilot = Full time use of safety lanyard, wearing a life jacket at all times & Jim the lifesaver.
NetPez
Thet lanyard to kill the motor sounds like a good idea
i can just hear jumpy screaming (after falling off the boat)
stop and turn around u stupid thing? hysterical.gif
Jumpus GooDarus
Ewe Tu R a pair of Wally's laugh.gif

What part didn't ewe get Fed ???

I'll type it slow so ewe can understand this time laugh.gif

There's no mixing fuel/oil on the etec's, there's a series of tiny injecting oil points along the crankshaft housing, oil gets injected onto crankshaft lubing it along with the other working parts bearings etc.

Fuel on it's own gets injected into the cylinders

Bet you're wodering how cylinders get lubed & what happens to oil in crank ???

Crank pressure suck oil into cylinders when pistons move in & out.

Oil injected 2 stokes mix oil/fuel in fuel evaporator & it goes into cylinders allready pre mixed
Fed
OK, so whereabouts on the engine are the fuel injectors and whereabouts are the oil injectors?
Did he mention any scavenging of excess oil from the crankcase?

He's a worry Pez, did you know his mate Jim saved his life when he fell overboard?
The auto pilot would just keep going without even a chance of the boat coming around in a big arc.
Jumpus GooDarus
Geez you're a GOOSE Fed
Woops we all new that allready laugh.gif laugh.gif

There's a little thing called wrist remote control

You really need to get out of the dark ages laugh.gif laugh.gif
Fed

wrist remote control

So you can steer the boat back to you? Excellent!
Fed
You could launch the boat while you were at the trailer then steer it over to the wharf.
That would leave the natives gob smacked. HaHaHa!
quintrex101
I don't bloody get it laugh.gif

Wouldn't it be easier to just say you don't know?
NetPez
YES I have heard about wrist controls

Might be easier but would not give ewe the satisfaction & i would be telling a big porky. laugh.gif

Dont call you goose for no reason

So tell me Mr Goose how on earth do ewe expect to see wittle brass barbs embeded into the crank cover through all the electricals, hoses etc surrounding the barbs [they're the wittle things oil hoses attach to Your Gooseness] laugh.gif

You go look for a pic of an ETEC crank cover & i'll show you exactly where they are
Woops wont have to cause even a goose will see them laugh.gif laugh.gif
Fed
Talking to you is like pulling teeth from a googlefish.

Right, the oil injectors are on the crankcase cover, was that so hard? next....
Jumpus GooDarus
Geez Fed use your noggin where the hell any injector goes on motor ???

They're feeding something

Here's a clue tis not the battery laugh.gif laugh.gif
Fed
1) Intake manifold.
2) Crankcase.
3) Cylinder head.

Choose your poison, if you don't know just say so it's no big deal.
You always seem to want to make a pissing comp of these things, I just don't get it.
Jumpus GooDarus
Then why are you asking me for ?

Not a fan of those etec's & have only ever given them a passing eye they're not my idea of a motor
Fed
When we last spoke you were going to corner your OB guy to clarify it for us and I thought you may have found out.

I think Nimrod had an Etec so maybe he knows.... NIMROD!

I saw one at the ramp a couple of months ago, jeez it was quiet.

Still wondering how the Optis do it too.
Jumpus GooDarus
Well i've had better things to do since then than running around looking @ etec's

Like doing alot of sleepies & trying to shake this F()*&^^$$# Flu mad.gif
Fed
Yeah I was hoping to go for a fish tomorrow but HMMM?

Maybe it will improve during the day.

Fed
No fishing tomorrow Jumpy.
Jumpus GooDarus

why the question Fed
I just don't get it
Paul
Jumpus GooDarus
Because he's a Goose laugh.gif laugh.gif
Fed
The question was a follow up on a conversation we had a couple of weeks ago Poly, believe it or not Jumpy was pretty interested in finding out exactly how they worked too.
Jumpus GooDarus
Fuel gets injected through the heads
Fed
Thanks mate.
poly
get a kayak and you wont have to worry about etec motors, dirty smelly things they are blar blar blar blar
Paul
quintrex101
Buy a Yammy four stroke and you'll have no smelly fumes, your ear won't go deaf, hell, the only problem you'll have is keeping the fuel tank topped up with fresh fuel !

I've used mine for 4 trips and i've only dropped 2 bars on the fuel meter
poly
is that 4 times across the river and back quentrex101
