Can anyone give me a description of how the Etec fuel & oiling system works?

I don't get what you want to know Fed
The E-TEC is just like a normal 2 stroke, you put straight Fuel in the tank
& 2 stroke oil in the oil tank in the outboard
And they get mixed together during the outboard running or something i don't know outboards

Was talking with the master about this last week Dan and he made a call to his outboard guy but the info was just a little vague so I thought I'd put the Q here for a bit of discussion.
It seems that the fuel & oil don't get mixed in an Etec like a conventional 2 stroke.
My Qs revolve around where exactly does the fuel inject, ie: intake manifolds or directly into the heads?
Where exactly does the oil get injected (all points) and how does the oil eventually get to the combustion chamber to be finally burnt.
This post is partially to give Jumpy a reminder to collar his OB guy and I thought people might be interested.
Once we figure out Etecs then we try & figure out Optis, I think they're injected too but more like a conv 2 stroke.
DO YOU GET IT NOW?

All you did was repeat what your Ob guy told you and it was a bit vague mate.
Auto pilot = Full time use of
safety lanyard, wearing a

Ewe Tu R a pair of Wally's
What part didn't ewe get Fed ???
I'll type it slow so ewe can understand this time
There's no mixing fuel/oil on the etec's, there's a series of tiny injecting oil points along the crankshaft housing, oil gets injected onto crankshaft lubing it along with the other working parts bearings etc.
Fuel on it's own gets injected into the cylinders
Bet you're wodering how cylinders get lubed & what happens to oil in crank ???
Crank pressure suck oil into cylinders when pistons move in & out.
Oil injected 2 stokes mix oil/fuel in fuel evaporator & it goes into cylinders allready pre mixed

OK, so whereabouts on the engine are the fuel injectors and whereabouts are the oil injectors?
Did he mention any scavenging of excess oil from the crankcase?

He's a worry Pez, did you know his mate Jim saved his life when he fell overboard?
The auto pilot would just keep going without even a chance of the boat coming around in a big arc.

You could launch the boat while you were at the trailer then steer it over to the wharf.
That would leave the natives gob smacked. HaHaHa!

Might be easier but would not give ewe the satisfaction & i would be telling a big porky.
Dont call you goose for no reason
So tell me Mr Goose how on earth do ewe expect to see wittle brass barbs embeded into the crank cover through all the electricals, hoses etc surrounding the barbs [they're the wittle things oil hoses attach to Your Gooseness]
You go look for a pic of an ETEC crank cover & i'll show you exactly where they are
Woops wont have to cause even a goose will see them

Geez Fed use your noggin where the hell any injector goes on motor ???
They're feeding something
Here's a clue tis not the battery

1) Intake manifold.
2) Crankcase.
3) Cylinder head.
Choose your poison, if you don't know just say so it's no big deal.

Mar 30 2011, 04:14 PM
When we last spoke you were going to corner your OB guy to clarify it for us and I thought you may have found out.
I think Nimrod had an Etec so maybe he knows.... NIMROD!
I saw one at the ramp a couple of months ago, jeez it was quiet.
Still wondering how the Optis do it too.

Buy a Yammy four stroke and you'll have no smelly fumes, your ear won't go deaf, hell, the only problem you'll have is keeping the fuel tank topped up with fresh fuel !
I've used mine for 4 trips and i've only dropped 2 bars on the fuel meter
