Hey guys
My sister has 2 days of playing softball this weekend so the only way i could get my fishing fix was by going in the arvo.
Got up at 10 (Love sleeping in so much) and got the boat ready, all packed ready to go with a plan for a Hacking fish. Plan was to get some nippers and go for a few drifts around some proven spots.
Dad got home at 2, we had some lunch, double check to make sure the boat is all good, and left for Hacking at around 3. We were in the water and pumping for nippers at 4, we got around 50 or so nippers and we moved to our first spot at around 20 to 5. (Had a swim first)
(Relax, i didn't use that rod for fishing, it's just my new reel and was testing it out to see how it went, it's so smooth and a joy to use, very happy camper.
First couple of bites, few more, 2 nippers later and me and my dad had a double hook up on 'alright' fish. Mine turned out to be a bloody Boxfish, but dad on the other hand had a perfect table sized Flattie, he would of been around 45cm.
So we kept on drifting, bite here, bite there, little Flattie, another little Flattie, so we headed back to where we started the drift and first drop to the bottom i hooked up to a 35cm Flattie. So we kept on drifting again and got a few more 'just' undersized Flatties.
So nearing the end of our drift we moved to spot 2.
Hooked up within 2 minutes to a nice bream, just 27cm but i haven't caught a legal bream in a while and forgot how much of a sportfish they really are, they put up such a good fight for there size, haven't heard the drag go off like that in so long.
Another good 10 minutes later and i hooked up again, felt like a good sized Flattie, i called it for a Flattie then out of no where one of the biggest Flounder i have ever seen jumps out of the water right infront of me!
Got it in the net and it wasn't as big as when i first put on eyes on it, it was still a decent sized fish at 34cm.
Then the tide started slowing down, and the fish lost interest with only the bite here and there and a few little Flatties, oh well.
At the ramp around 8, and we got home just before 9 with our nice bag of fish.
It was a very nice and relaxing afternoon
