just wondering guys ,what tyres do you guys use on your boat trailers ,be it light truck ,normal car tyres ,or off road 4wd tyres ,,jas
Jason. Light truck whenever possible mate.
Try and ovoid putting steel belted radials on any trailer.
Reason being that trailers don't have a steering camber setting on them which means there is always the same amount of camber on the tyre ( to a degree )
and what happens is the steel bands that are wrapped around the tyre after a while get pressured to the point of less resistance, towards the lower side of the camber. Under no circumstances ( if you are forced to run these tyres ) ever change the wheels over from right to left, ( oK to change front to rear with duel wheels ) cause what this does is after the steel bands have been pressured to one side ( exagerated ) ONE way and you turn the tyre on the other side you then start forcing the oppisite camber to the Steel bands and they become knotted up.
Nylon/reylon Light truck 6 or 8 ply or better for larger is what I would recommend.
