I use a uni knot for the vast majority of my fishing. Joining lines, hooks, swivels, some lures etc.

I use one knot to tie things on (don't know its name) and a spider hitch for doubles.
I never have a need to join 2 lines together.

I tie flourocarbon leader to braid on some of my outfits. Uni knot does it for me. Never hitched a spider to anything.

Depends

Tying hooks I'll use The Uni sum times The Trilene Knot or The Improved Clinch Knot

Tying doubles @ home I'll allways platt , but if in a hully out on the boat tis The Spider Hitch

Tying doubles to snap swivels it's

Again if tying droppers onto a padamonster rig The Spider Hitch with the dropper facing upwards

When rigging 2 hook traces [trailing stinger hook] It's The Snell Knot

Braid to leader tis the Slim Beauty
