Christos and I are planning a 3 day fishing trip for the very first time around Feb 19 - 21 to Jervis Bay and the surrounding waters...these times will be quiet as all the kids are back at school....

I have never been down there before and i don't think Christos has fished there either...

Plans are to firstly to find suitable accommodation with space to park my boat...possibly tourist park or similar...I will be doing some research on the internet and hopefully also speak to some of the local tackle stores on fishing tips in the area...

Christos and I primarily fish within Bays...not too far out wide...

If anyone has knowledge of the area and can provide us with information on where to fish, species to target, any suitable place for accommodation...etc..etc...

Many thanks.....

Majed the only thing I could suggest at this early stage is see if you can get somewhere close to Murray beach launching ramp as this is very close to ocean access and you can stay in the bay if needed. Heaps of great places to fish, don't know where to start.

Christos used wun of his life lines & rang a friend

Now your chances are 50 / 50

JB wont suit your style of fushing @ all

Better option is to fush the Shoalhaven river system instead

Coral Tree Lodge @ Greenwell Point has cabins, Me & Zorblick stay down there when we duck down for a day or 2, there's a private boat ramp in the park as well for guests to use.

Callala is only a 30 klm drive from Greenwell if ewe decide to fush JB
Spudly
I normally fish the reefs out around point perpendicular and long nose across to Middle ground.. take a rock pick and be prepared to fight of leather jacket if they are around.. Tp the north of honey moon bay or callala bay across the weed beds ya will get good squid!

Let me know when you are definate on the plans, as I will be in JB with the family that weekend. Maybe we can catch up. I'll be near callala beach as we are visiting friends there.

Better pack a rod just in case

There has been a slight change in plans. The dates had to move from the 19th 20th and 21st to the following week 26th, 27th and 28th. The reason being is that on these days there is a triathlon.

We have also some thoughts on what we are going to target and that will be Snapper as the primary fish, the secondary target fish will be Bream.

So now that we have some thoughts to our fishing please supply your comments on what would be the best locations.

Jack

Are you definate there on the 19th or a week later? smile1.gif And by what I have been chatting to Majed with he intends taking 10 rods biggrin.gif

I think that might be a little over the top. I was only going to take 3 rods.

Like I said JB does not suit your style of fushing

1stly
If the wind comes up which it definately does this time of year down there you'll shite your pants

Botany Bay is a pussycat compared to JB, JB is much bigger place & not as easy to get out of the wind

2ndly
Unless you're going to radically change your style of rigs & start fushing floaters all you'll catch is the bottom

The reefs Spud spoke of are the middle grounds & again it's a different style of rigs
Majed
Just to let you know that Christos, cousin Gihad, my son Ahmed and yours truly will be heading down to Jervis Bay Friday morning (tomorrow)....back Sunday evening.... smile1.gif

Hopefully we will have a safe and enjoyable trip with lots of photos and fish..... hysterical.gif

Enjoy the piles and piles of seaweed on the beaches......

I took 3 kids (novices) fishing there last weekend for a couple of hours and all I managed was to chuck a lure 3 or 4 times. The rest of the time was spend tying hooks after the kids got stuck on the oysters, putting on new bait, casting their lines and occassionally remove a fish from the hook.

Managed 1 tailor though....

I enjoyed the dolphin cuise.
