Spent Sunday/Monday doing an overnighter around Botany Bay/Port Hacking.

Fished the night in the Hacking and we managed two nice jews, mine going 75cm and Harry's going 80cm. Went pretty hard on 4kg line.

We also got some rat kings in Botany around markers on the way down and back up on SP's and the light spin sticks. I got six calamari around Cronulla to Harry's zero during a quick stop on the way to other spots.

Other species on the cards were bonnies on the troll, plastic stealing tailor in the bay. Also some big yakkas, big garfish and plenty of slimies in the Hacking.

It's really good to see someone sportfishing with 4Kg Catch, all too often I read (on other sites) people using 80Kg braid to stop fish.

Top weather over the past few days to have been out there fushing & yep squiding is a bit of an art form once you've got the right retrieve on the day it's easy

Well done on some great catches boys....

The fishing was fantastic over this long weekend....

Quite a variety of fish. Very good going.

Yet I got more kings, more bonnies, more tailor, more squid......



I've found when the squid are on, you can get your bag limit in no time no matter what you're doing. But sometimes they can be a bit tougher and that's when you need the right retrieve, technique etc. to get them. Then there are times when they just not cooperating and you might as well give up! Still, I think the hardest part about squidding is just finding them. It's easy to find the right kind of ground (weed, kelp, reef etc.) but actually finding the squid can be more difficult.
