Full Version: Wood Cut To Size

Hi Guys,

I need some wood cut to size. Bunnings seems to have issues with this.

What is a good place in the sutherland area where I can get a sheet of let's say 20 - 25 mm and have it cut up in the right sizes so that I just need to screw the pieces together when I get home with them :-)

Thanks

Jack

Strange. I have had timber cut up at Bunnings. I assume that you bought it there hysterical.gif Ask to speak with the supervisor.

When is wood not wood Jack ????

When it is knot tongue.gif

Gather you're refering to board & not wood if you're talking sheet.

Just look up a local joinery shop in your area

They'll do the large pieces but do not cut small pieces.

What do you need cut?

Just some board to make a back board for my workbench. some shelves on it as well. That way I can hang up some of my tools for easier access.

So not really need to be very high tech

Thanks, trouble with those things is that they are dangerous in the unexperienced hands, and yes that would be my hands I'm talking about.

I'll be leaving it to the professionals to cut

Jack. Let me know when you want the stuff picked up and I will come get you, we can go to the store
and you can buy the material you need, I have roof racks etc on rover, I will bring
electric saw and chain saw if needed, and I can cut all the material to size.
All you will have to do is mark where you want it cut and put it where you want it.
And I could even give you a hand with this if you need it.
oz man
Mister ply and wood at Caringbah , just tell gary that george sent yah . he normally charges $1.00 per cut on his panel saw.

You can use a jig saw with a straight edge as a guide. One other thing to consider is to not try and cut on the line just proud of it and then clean up to the line.

I only wholesale timber in pack lots and would need to know amount, secondly I personally would never use treated pine for decking as it,s shit but is cheap and that,s what sells it.
Watch better homes and garden on Friday and see the product we are really excited about and is a very durable timber and is a fire area approved . It's called DNA merbau and we are the first approved with a timber that can be chain of custody certified.I have a couple of top specials on at present on 66x19 Blackbutt std and better decking and 70x19 merbau screening which can be used as a decking.
Just tell me the m2 as it is sold by the lm in random lenghts we don't select lenghts that,s a timber yards job.
storms72
Poly you prolly used the metal cutting blade instead of a wood one tongue.gif Gotto use the correct bits for the job....I'v had the same prob with a ryobi years ago and couldn't work it out till my dad told me I was using the wrong blade!
Jumpus GooDarus
Nope !

Jig saws aren't meant to do straight cuts & they will wonder all over the place.

Esp trying to cut material like Melamine board which I think Jack is refering to.

Even with a table saw unless you've got the correct blade & preferable with a 2nd scribe blade you'll chip away @ the Melamine coating resulting in a shitty cut.

You can go to the top of the class JG. laugh.gif There is a tool for every job isn't there. The 2nd scribe is the only way re a table saw V's malomine dry.gif

Circular saw and a straight edge will get you there in no time...
Jumpus GooDarus
I also owned a joinery shop Bees laugh.gif laugh.gif

There is a another cheeky way to avoid the chiping, cut the sheet a few mm's bigger then trim it back with a router
jack
no, I just need plywood (21mm), nothing coated (I might paint it, but most likely not).

The reason why I want it cut is that it usually cost next to nothing to have it cut.

I would need to go out and buy me a couple of saw horses for those big sheets.
I have a circular saw that would cut it but I just don't have the facilities to cut these big sheets.

Anyway I'll think about the exact measurements I need and have already PM'ed Oz man that I'll give him the sizes and he'll get a price for me.

Thanks

Jack
