Is there a law about where you lay your crab pots,As in not in the middle of a channel and in open water.
TomMc
Most waterways have diffrent rules about crab pots.
Ring the DPI and ask them about the water ways your planning on dropping pots.

You can not set any fixed object in any channel and when placing pots/nets within their allowed zones each pot/net must be labelled with the owners details on a suitable visable float, if you have a series of pots held together with rope that extends for any distance, the rope must have clearly visible floats on it.

AS stated different waterways have different rules Pt Hacking for example you're not allowed to use nets.

Actually looking forward to the crabing season in botany bay even got myself some of those heavy duty nets time to do away with the old witch's hats me dinks

I done the same thing last year. Those witches hats arent worth the hassle.

On my way to QLD last year i was passing through Coffs Harbour. As i always do, i stopped in the massive tackle store there and they had the box traps on

special for $7. Normally $15.

I bought 5 of them, even though your only allowed to use 1 per person.

You sure about that KontoPothy ???

I was not aware of that & know you're allowed 6 witchy hats.

Difference between the 2 types of traps for those who dont know.

The collaspsable ones salty & I are refering to !

Well you dont have to check them every 1/2 hour like the witch's hats & can leave them out 4 or so hrs without any fear of the traps getting destroyed.

A little tip when crabing

I set them out then fish that area & allways have one net under the boat on a long rope to allow for any swing on the boat that one net accounts for @ least 50% of my crabs.

Why ??

Cause I'm burleying for fishy's & put it down to the burley doing the job.

Damn Buoy to anchor rope allows me to drop anchor rope & go check other nets every hr & I just pick up the Buoy on return to my fishing spot no hassles of having to re-pick.

Yep. 1 per person. Unless its changed in the last 10 months.

I also thought one was only allowed 5 crab pots per person.
