Not a product review as yet but my little boy got his birthday present today as he is a very happy little boy. He turned 6.

Browing Af620 reel and Viva 6' Gold stick rod. Jumpy recommend this rod, fibreglass 3-4kg 1 piece. More forgiving for kids and colour makes it look more expensive than it was (black and gold, both rod and guides).

With parties and picnics this weekend I will let you know what he thinks next weekend.

Another picture with part of the rod.

Hmmmm.....my first fishing rod was, I kid you not, a bamboo fixed rod and that was around the age of 6 as well. Times have changed.
He should be a proud owner of that setup. looks good

I only bought it because of the blue colour and it is a reasonable quality Browing reel.

My misses likes the wood.

Jack, it will be used real soon as the school holidays are real soon. biggrin.gif Got 1 week to spool it up for him.

Still waiting for the review.

I now have one of these as well, I'll spool it with 6lb mono and use it for baitfishing the estuary and stick it on my glass rod.

All I need is some decent weather so I can chuck the boat in again.

haha yeah I remember how that was.. same here.

I'll never forget when we moved to a house my the river when I was seven. My dad had a 'proper' setup (ie rod&reel) and the first time we fished for pike there, we caught a pretty decent sized one, made quite an impression too smile.gif

I fished for whitefish for years from our jetty and later on for pike and stuff as well. The bamboo rod was eventually replaced by a telescopic fiberglass 4m pole. Did managed to break to top off of it a few times smile.gif

It's not just times that have changed though, I think countries might have a little something to do with it as well smile.gif
