Hey Guys,
The other nights fishing we had a lot of bust offs with our 12lb line...the fish were big and were bending the rods big time...the drag was set so the fish could take as much as line as it wants but the lines kept snapping.
I love light tackle fishing, but it can be annoying when you lose around 10 big fish in one night because of the lines snapping.
Some people have recommeded me using a good quality 20lb small diameter lines.
What do you guys thing?

where did they snap?
at the hook/leader knot? or somewhere in the middle?
could be many different reasons why it happened (cracked/chipped guide, rocks, oysterbeds, drag needs some TLC)
In general a 12 lb line can take quite a large fish, but very little from rocks and all that. 20lb very thin line can take just as much from the rocks so maybe you need a heavy mono leader of a couple of meters

yea, unless your lines are damadged or poor knots, and your drag is set correctly you shouldnt snap lines at all!
Fishing in the river you shouldnt need anymore than 12lb...

I'm sorry but that sounds like you need to work a little harder on tying proper knots.
You'll be loosing them on 50Lb line otherwise

for the clinch knot, or the improved clinch knot, I always use 7 twists and lubricate the knot...
If you dont lubricate the line the knots will cause damage, which creates a weak spot in the line..
stick the knot in ya mouth and spit all over it.. and ya get that lovley taste of bait in ya mouth!

Majed,
I recently changed to the improved clinch knot and have found that I get less lost hooks compared to a clinch knot.
I spit on my fingers then lubricate the knot. Not into tasting bait and would not put the hook anywhere near my mouth as I guarantee just as I did it my kids would decide to play with their fishing rods. :o

The Uni-Knot can be used in so many applications which makes it a good one to learn and its really easy and strong..
