With the weather so good we went outside past Snapper Is. and found massive schools of baitfish swimming under us, so decided to have a go and see how we went. We caught a handfull of slimy's and set two out as live baits, as well as burling, some baits out and fliking the odd plastic.
First Keeper in the boat was a Nice Flatty Caught on Pilly, and more followed, along with some Ras, Slimys, Small Bream and Snapper and More Flatties..
Dad got the first run on the livebait, and for 30 seconds the Browning Baitrunner was screaming as an unknown fish smashed the livebait and busted across the surface in a big splash, before busting him of on the reef.... No idea what it was but was a decent fish dark on top and silver down low, it took a 30cm Slimy.
Later in the day I got a run on my light gear, it took off at 100 miles an hour and once i started to load it up it spat the lot, whatever it was i doubt i was going to pull in on 3kg..
There was alot of baitfish around and a massive whale that you gotta watch out for ;)
We stayed around Snapper Is. for the full day as we were in the fish right from the start and ended up bringing home a bag of 7 flatties, all over 40cm which will make some great fish cocktails.. Pretty happy with that result for a mornings fishing!
