Why do you it call it the Mother inlaw fish.
This is what we call the mother inlaw fish. It might be because it allways has its moth open or the Venomous dorsal fin spines.

They are called mother in law fish, because they are the ones you give to her, due to their high (haha I'm fibbing) rating as a table fish.
I took fillets off one while I was up there a few weeks back, and cooked them within a couple of hours. They were delicious, as is the red rock cod you have pictured. Another name for the red rock cod, is poor man's lobster.

On the day Polly we got a mixed bag of sweetlip, mackrel, slatey bream and parrot. The islands are 18ks out and take around 25min on a flat day. you would get out no worrys.Ive even seen little tinnys out there. South Repulse is a really pretty spot with a top beach and sheltered bays. The 3 islands are all national park.Coral trout are also in the area.
