Yes the clip on floats are easy to attach. But for the kids it is a little hard for them to see if a fish pulling the bait sideways compared to a pencil type float. But they are learning to watch as it rolls.
Other than the ball type clip on float there are also clip on egg shape type floats. The middle is about 1/3 the size of the lenght. I have a friend use one for his Luderick fishing and so I went out and purchase one my self. This has yet to be used, only had it for three years.

They love to touch the bait but are scared of sticking themselves with the hook.
It is good to see that they take care. No matter who I go with I always tell people to know where your hook is.
I will give you a story of what happen to me when I did not watch the hook. I was fishing from the rocks and I went to cast. Behind me was a paper bag that the bakers use for flour. It had some bread in it about a third full. I cast with all might and I ripped the bag with a gash of about 30 - 35cm. The hook got stuck just as I was about to cast. What would have happen to a person if this caught them.
Always know where you hook is.
