I have a permatrim and think its the best mod ive done, though its a 4.6m ally boat with a 40 yamaha.
No issue with porposing at all.

Dont like them myself mate. Bought my new boat last November. After taking out twice i ripped them off. I just couldnt get the trim right. Was to inconsistent. Maybe i was just to used to not using them and didnt give it a go. But i wont be trying any time soon. Maybe it depends on the boat.

  Hahahaha, Here we go again!!!
A properly setup engine shouldnt need them....
That is if the the hull is properly designed and the engine is mounted correctly and the weight is distributed throughout the boat properly.
Even just the extra drag will cost you in fuel and speed..
My dad put them on his boat and i hate the bloody things! They arnt permatrims but some form of wings..

I bought some Lazika hydrafoils and put on my 15ft half cab.....absolutely rubbish...boat would sway from side to side with them on...took them off and the boat is fine again....returned them and got a refund.....never again.....boat runs fine without them...

Some foils are better than others in fact one manufacturer may be good on one boat and crap on another all comes down to a bit of trial and error..
I have always used them on 40hp and under saved me fuel and got me plaining much quicker especialy when I added live wells, deck, and other weighty extras...Setup can be a pain in the rump but once fine tuned they become a real asset its quite amazing how even a tiny adjustment can makae all the differance..
Personally a prop upgrade if you can afford the cash to a custom made solaris or the like will be even better these guys tune the pitch ect ect to specifically suit the load, boat and hull perfectly but can be quite expensive eg $280 and upwards but another real investment in comfortable boating out on the brine.
