What a good day it was today. flat calm no wind.
BUT BIG spring TIDES. I dont like them , there is very little movement and the fish are scattered . Or not bothered .
My view fish will go in a hurry when tide is running as this is when food comes bye, they will hang behind shelter in gutters , chanells and reefs, and wait for there meal to come to them.
they dont go out too mutch to roam .
they have to work twice as hard,

even if you set up a burly trail with the BIG tides burly will just sink almost straight down. and not drift in a long stream.
Now this is the case in B/bay.

If the water was clearer I would have gone for a snorkle.

OK picture this your at a big function and theres a smorgasbor with food allover the funtion room and its a melow big crowd [ tide ] yourjust chating away and picking every now and then . you dont have to rush cus the food isn't going anywhere .

Now your at school and lunch time bell rings every onerushes to the canteen to get there lunch cos you only have a short time to get what you can eat before the tuck shop closes [small quick tide ] and you have to go back to class [ tide stopping and you have to get back to cover]

you know where you are the meal will come by near you and first in best served . hence the more agro aproach . apposed to a heard mosseing around and dont care as mutch.

Fast tides bettere bites slow tides less bites

Fast tides, slow tides, a cycle takes 24 hrs + 50 minutes no matter what you're smoking.

That just doesn't make sense to me Steve, you'd think with a big tide there would be more water to move and consequently a faster flow to move that extra water in the same time period.
I just don't get it, do I? laugh.gif

them big tides are a lot more water but at a slow pace. and take longer .
if tide says 12 am high tide it will be about 2 . its not an even cicle . when moon is getting full theres more or less gravatational pull and when it starts to die back down [moon] the tides get smaller and faster.
next time you know a big spring tide is up and it says high at 12 go down and have a look it will be still rising and the water level will be mutch higher .

sound weird to you but trust me thats what hapens

Just had a look & the tides were nice & small today

http://www.tidetime.com.au/tidetimes/local...20Dolls%20Point

Last week was a different story near 2 meter in the AM high BUT very reasonable in the PM high that's one of the reasons I dont like getting out there till after lunch
