I'm not a real supersticious sort of good looking fello !
Well I am GOOD LOOKING just not that supersticious I do believe in Karma though Anyways there are 2 things which in the back of my mind generally mean if we're gonna catch fish or not catch fish Those 2 things are CAMERA's & peeps getting out rod buckets, harness's etc out in anticipation to me these things are a no no May sound silly but to many times the moment the camera comes out to take shots the fish is lost As far as getting gear ready goes well I've watched & said nothing for the last 8 trips heading out looking for YFT & on every one of those trips rod buckets were doned as soon as a bait hit the water. Yesterday again I said nothing just waited for this to happen & it didn't no rod buckets etc came out @ all & we got fish Work that one out. I know Dave thinks it wrong not to eat everybody else food on a boat guess thats his stupidstition as well as actually releasing a fish to fight another day Does anybody else have any Superstitions ??? -------------------- Save The Fish, Eat a Pussy |

So now its the rod buckets Fault , And camera. last year when we went out and I got a fin the first time I was wearing a rod bucket. I get rod bucket out put it on and adjust it so Im not worried later If I hook a fish I can get straight into it.
when you hooked up It was Ohhhh get me a rod bucket quick. had to pull it out then it was keep burlying . get me the rod bucket. then I had to get it round his waist and pass the strap through a small slot and strap him in . and it still didn't sit right. I thought he was guna ask for his bottle next and a burping. Then it was get the camera out and take some pic's of me , he's batteries went flat and started yelling you dont know how to take a picture. After that he sat there and fixed his rod bucket up so it would sit properly. I was lucky I grew two extra arms :o to deal with all the Voodooo. As for me I wasn't that keen . what was suposed to be a few hrs snappa fishing close by turned out to be the ride from hell in 2-3 mt. swell and chop. :boat: 1 1/2 hr out there thought I was in a cement mixer. could not move my wrist this morning badly jard , my neck was stuffed and my lower back. :doctor: we didn't get back till after 6pm got in trouble cause I had to take my daugter to training at 5.30 That the only way jg can catch fish take out the other persons This post has been edited by STEVE.P: Sep 27 2007, 10:08 PM -------------------- Goony Googoo

i was once told my little gold fish friend that u have to hold your mouth just right, if i were u i would try to keep your bottom lip under top lip that should work.
all jokes aside there are times that we all go through, periods when no matter what we do the fish just wont play our game so my solution to this is to change tack completely if i have been fishing for bream with no real success for a wile i change and target a different species were a totally different way of fishing is needed, so have a think about what u are doing and give my idea a try it can be very rewording -------------------- bugger it's sold, got meself a house instead

I don't have any superstitions, unless that includes wearing a pair of lucky fishing boxers(with little fishy's on them)and not using soap unless it's that sea shell scented stuff b4 a trip.
But here's a couple i do know of,don't quote me but i think there from Maori's??? Poharitia,Poharitia ! This is yelled when a fish is hooked,it means "invite them, invite them". They also beleive that if a fish touches the side of the boat b4 it hits the deck, whilst being lifted aboard, then all the other fish will move on and they'll catch no more. :o Oh just remembered another one, this ones mine. When i go fish'n i've found that 9times outta 10 i catch the first fish, which always seems to be a just legal flatty, now i do'nt realy like fish fingers so i can't resist letting them go. Over the years i've noticed that if i do let the first little runt go i never seemed to get another,i've even sat on my hands untill someone else caught a legal fish, sometimes whilst doing this i'd get a small one straight up but it did'nt seem to matter if i let these ones go i would catch more. Another thing thats worked for me is if your hav'n a bad run or just lost your mojo, the best thing i've found to cure it is to shake the hand of another fishermen,it seems you pass the bad luck off!!! I must ask that dude at windsor tackle if he's been gett'n any fish, hahaha This post has been edited by Smelly: Sep 28 2007, 03:18 AM -------------------- catch ya

is to change tack completely if i have been fishing for bream with no real success for a wile i change and target a different species were a totally different way of fishing is needed This I have done. Change Tack. One other thing I will mention is people with boats can move to another location. Land based fisho's have to move as well. I have gotten to the spot that I wanted to fish from and thinking that this is not good. Did the 20 minute walk back to the car and went to another location. Christos |

BANANAS I won't let anyone take bananas on my boat I believe it's bad luck and if someone brings one I go BANANAS I love Bananas. I eat them in the morning before I go fishing. Does not make a difference to me. I catch fish or do not catch fish. My previous reply still stands. Now lets not go crazy and get people being concern with a humble banana. Christos |

Hey Smelly it sounds like you didn't catch that fish, from what you say it appears that it caught itself, while you was making a monkey of yourself, and it must have swallowed the hook if the rod was bent over while you was still eating the banana.
