Been scratching my head as to the best way to set a rod/reel up so that you can quickly change lures/rigs on the water.
1. Have a snaplock attached to the main line and leader material attached to swivel on one end and lure/hook on other? 2. Have swivel attached to mainline and snaplock on one end off leader and lure/hook opposite end? 3. Have leader material tied to mainline and snaplock (this method means if you go from trolling to bottom bashing then you have the heavy leader above the snaplock which you attach your premade dropper rig. I dunno.. Just trying to come up with ideas to accomodate not having enough rods to have all individually setup and being able to swap and change without ompletly re rigging. |

Chad, I tend to have a snaplock or Italian snap swivel on my main lines and make up a variety of Snelled hook lines with various size hooks and sinkers on them, it then becomes a simple process to change over to a lure or change the rig if it has been snagged or lost a hook, to change to a jig head all that is required is a short leader and weighted head or a wide gap hook attached.

Try it this way --- Line----Swivel with Snap--leader---with sinker------------Hook
or snap to Lure or snap to---------------Leader--------- Jighead This post has been edited by SUMOFISHIN: Jul 3 2007, 01:47 AM -------------------- I WANNA GO: FISHIN WITH SUMO.

The top end of the Snelled assy has a loop on the end of the leader which is attached to the Snap swivel

excellet work sumo, thats what i thought but it seemed all to simple!
I imagine that a spider hitch would make the knot strong enough for the loop. if you had as many rods as the jumpy one you could have them all pre rigged, however we are not all that lucky!!! YET!!! im worknig on it Jumpy!!! Remember, he who dies with the most toys wins! |
