the plans of mice and men or so the saying go's.
on the one day of the month i am not on call, what happens there is a glitch with power and that dam alarm clock go's in to shut down mode so all my plans are shot, we were to get up a 3.30am have a quick breakfasts and head down the coast by 5.30 to catch the high tide, of course we slept in till just on 6am would believe, not much sense rushing now i guess.
Possums new beach out fit needs to be blooded as soon as possible and that is the main reason we were heading down the coast in the fist place.

we arrived at cockles beach Durras at 8.45 with the tide well and truly on the run out rigged up and baited up and in the water by 9am it took a hour to get the first fish one very small salmon and i do mean small

this was followed by an even smaller flathead, how a a fish this small can get hooked on 3/0 musted is beyond me, after fishing the tide wright down that was the best we got, for me the winner was the day its self the beach was all most deserted the sun worm and no wind beautiful to say the least

good stuff poly..

Dont have myself a beach rod, but wouldnt mind one. I have got an 8ft Uglystick that needs a few guides replaced that would probably do the trick though.. Should have bid on the one in the auctions!

Although, I like being able to move about in the boat!

How far away from the entrance is that beach. Noticed a nice gutter running to the south of the entrance along the beach, probably 50m out. Looked like a great place to hide if you were a fish!

I would say that it was good report.

Does not matter what time you get there as long as you get to chance to fish.

The perfect day for me to have gone fishing from the rocks, where I normally go was the Thursday.

The wind was western, so you would use smallest sinker and let the wind take it out. The waves were small and the fish had booked dinner,,, dinner with me. smile.gif

What happened m8t?
You should of had an extra hr sleep an all. laugh.gif
Funny thing is that we had a blackout also this morning, so even if you had stayed in the Bay you probably would of sleept in as well.
Shame about the Salmon. I was out there last tues and they were so many you could walk on water & they were big. They were chasing bait fish in the shallows around wasp island
