Went to Hacking today and showed up at the ramp nice and early around 7. Hacking was flat so first had a look around jibbin (?) as I normally don't go there due to too many waves.

Caught some yakka's for bait and lots of sweep. went to yowie bay around the moorings trying for King. Again no king fish today.

My plastic lures were being eaten everywhere so lot's of leatherjackets around. I decided to make a meal out of these and start catching some.
Did not take long to get my bag limit on these so that was good, wifey has a meal again.

Again lot's of decent size sweep were around and junior reds and a nice mackerel which was good on my light gear

Good one Jack but I think you need the Bunyip Man next time to scare away those Leather Jackets laugh.gif laugh.gif

I never fish for them & had many a plastic lure destroyed by themnot to mention a squid jig they once ripped to pieces on me.

That Mack would've given you a good time brilliant wittle fush to catch as they go like rockets

They are decent eating fish, easy to clean and the more I catch the less they bother you tongue.gif

after a while the frigid decided to tangle the anchor rope so I had to pull up the anchor to get it on board dry.gif

Nice catch Jack.

Nice little Mackrel, where were you fishing?

My girl wanted to throw some bread, feed, the fish and we saw plenty of Letheries today but did not have the time to go fushin'. Kids had parties to go to.
I agree easy to clean and sweet tasting.
Curious what bait you were using. I use squid strips, prawn just does not work for me.

I was in yowie bay using squid strips on a small longshank hook.

If I do not speak to you before than. Have a good flight. Give me a call when you're here. You have my number right?

Jack

ps: print out the boating handbook, gives you something to read in the plane for 24 hours. That way you can get your boat license real quick

Hi Jack

Nice feed of leatherjackets, they are a sweet fish and whilst they do not fight to well they are always welcome in my boat.

By the way jibbin is Jibbon

Cheers

Jack. Great feed of jackets there mate, they are nice and sweet.
I have a mate that eats the sweep as well and he says they are not bad on the tooth, and around the bombi at jibbon they fight pretty good so not a bad all round fish ( if you like the taste ) eat one next time they may suit your taste.
And if so they are easy to come by.
Meanwhile jackets would do me any day for a feed.

I catch them, clean them and even cook them but I do not eat them. I score brownie points with the boss and kid with them :-)
I catch more means I have a legit excuse to go to tackle shop biggrin.gif

Well actually more and more people are suggesting that botany and georges river is a better place for fishing, so I might have to take this bum from Holland into botany bay and do some plane spotting while we're there. Depends on the weather of course.

Just need to get my head around crappy boat ramps or check out Georges river motor boat club

Jack nothing wrong with the Cooks river ramp or even Penrhyn rd ramp. Both or either would be good for your boat.
