I dont mind the Water Cops @ all they'll generally leave you alone as long as you're not making a fool of yourself on the water or endangering others.

Unlike alot of your street cops who get told to issue fines whenever they can the water cops will leave you alone & are more likly to give you a warning than a fine.

I liketaking the piss out of them & they do have a sense of humouresp the ones driving around in the whalers I allways ask them if they'd like me to follow them back to ensure they arrive safely & dont sink laugh.gif

Majed you may think you were being victimised but what the cops were doing was ensuring that you had the required saftey gear aboard your boat life jackets etc & I think they should be pulling over a hell of alot more boats because some of the boats I've seen should not even be allowed on the water.

Another thing you were on anchor & your boat wasn't moving faster than 10 knots so there was no need for the cops to ask you for your drivers licence because one was not required.

There's alot of stolen boats hence you were asked who the boat was registered to & since you were fishing a licence was required to be produced

Higher powers in Holland have put quota's on police departments on the number of tickets they need to write and departments get penalised based on the lack of revenue as opposed to crime levels in the area.
This does not inspire people to respect them. They just see them as money grabbing thugs, which is partly true because the funding they get depends on their quota being made and thus the time spend on solving burglary, theft and murders suffers as this only costs money.

We have strayed a little but we are talking about police in general.

Just imagine that there are no police and that everything that you have can go without warning. We need police to stop certain things from happening. The thief will not take something in disguise if the thief does not have to worry about being caught. The strongest will survive the weak will perish.

I was under the impression that we are not fighting each other for food.

QUOTE (Majed @ Mar 19 2008, 09:44 PM) *
Last week while i was fishing the Georges with my dad & uncle a water police patrol travelling pretty quick through a "no wash zone" on the eastern side of como bridge approached me and asked me how the fishing was...it was slow at the time...

The police asked me for my fishing license which i supplied to them...they asked for my dads and uncles who are expempt as they are pensioners...

They also wanted to see if i had enough life jackets...which i always have...they asked me who owns the boat and is it registered...They also asked me which boat ramp i used...i asked them what was the question related too....they just wanted to know...so i told them...the officer was writing information in his pad..

I dont have any issue with supplying information, but i thought it was a waste of time hassling someone fishing with a 76 & 70 year old when they should be out catching the criminals and morons that use our waterways, not innocent fishemen...

They didnt even ask me for my boat license which i thought would be more important since they asked me to show them the life jackets and what boat ramp i used.....

Also, how come it is ok for them to be travelling at least 30 knots in a no wash zone??

being married to a police officer we all say they pick on us and we are hard done by but they have to check to see if you are legal they cant read minds and also because of some dickheads out their we all suffer but they are only doing their job if you have nothing to hide be polite and give them a easy task .....i wish the day would come in this world when we did not need policeing but untill we alll can be honest with each other we have to be controlled as its called ...cheers

I guess that would be a warning to those who are doing the wrong thing!!!??? If you do what you are required to, then there is no problem

that's what george bush likes to say over there in yankee land as well, I think reality is a little bit more complicated than that when it comes to law enforcement.
