Went down for another hours session, trying to entice some whiting onto the little poppers. The tide was running out and the water was very clear. Saw some very big whiting, but they saw me too and scooted for deeper water. Had some follows from small ones, but ther score ended up nil all.
Caught two chopper tailer. Not a bad way to spend an hour. Maybe next time - on the run up tide.

Whiting on plastics are eeeeeeezi Dan. biggrin.gif tongue.gif laugh.gif

Some possible probs with your approach kk. If you're going by boat and you don't have an electric motor, you're already making things tough on yourself. The tide isn't the problem, if you did see the yting there then you've already done one of the hardest parts which is finding the fish. You have to be VERY VERY quiet when targetting these fish on poppers. The chuck chuck chucking of a normal motor will make the fish scoot off, so try beaching your boat and going LB. If you are going LB, take a few steps back from the shore and walking further away from the shore line. Yting will readily hit poppers in <1ft of water. If all else fails, make sure your casts are long enough. Make sure you're more stealthy than a stealth fighter. biggrin.gif If you are going from boat and you have a leccy, cast real shallow and retrieve into the deeper stuff. For some reason whiting hit the poppers as they start to get into deep water?

Make sure your retrieve is pritty quick they like that. The speed will entice them to smash the popper instead of just play with it and you'll miss the hook up.

Good report. I was trying to get out for a fish but work got to me first.

First call at midday and the second one took the rest of the day.

Night shift tonight so no time to go out now.

I was wearing those same 'shoes' (and I use the term loosely) that you wear EVERYWHERE - even 5 star restaurants, Jumpus. You know, the plastic sandals (Crocs) that squeak, squeak when you walk in them when they are wet.

Yes I did write something like that, but then re-read it and thought it was too sarcastic and would hurts catch's feelings, so I edited it heavily laugh.gif

That was what I did wrong - pulled the snorkel out. When they saw that, they took off in a wave of spray.
