Went out yesterday with somebody lets just call him Chuck Chunder shall we

Didn't fish my reg spots had to come into calmer waters did manage 1/2 doz flatones , brimus , blurter & we had kungys in the burley trail scoffing the cubes.

No pics cause Chucky needs lessons in how to push the button on my camera, mind you he managed to figure how to push the button when jumpus fell asleep heaps of pics taking in my afternoon nap.

ps] most of the fush were taken on SP

Well peeps as I said no pics thanks to Chucky being my 1st fish in about 5 - 6 weeks boy did I feel like crap when I got home yesterday only just started coming good I never get sea sick nor did I yesterday but after lying on my back for past month + add to that the sun on the water I was pretty ratshite.

Mind you in chucky's defence the swell was up even though we were inside the Bay, had to wait for sets to settle B4 taking a true reading on the sounder cause I was getting 2 - 3 meter fluctuations some were rip snorters & the bommy was pumping big time.

Fish were there as well but Chucky wasn't laugh.gif

So we moved & right away Chucky was into the fush this one nearly spooled him

So on his next fush he decided to lock up the drag , get a load of what happened to his hook

Blurters were a bit on the smallish side

Bloody Dave kept losing fish & couldn't get hookups they were mainly undersized snapper so Jumpus decided to give Dave a lesson on how to play a fush.

I was doing really well on this one a nice flathead around 60 cm's had it to the surface but when I wasn't looking the bastard spat the SP out

One last pic, with all the rain we've had lately & the boat not having a run for a while thought it wise to check if any water had gotten into tanks & what a wise move that was around 1 1/2 litres in the jar

Suggest you go read the Condensation thread Jed.

There's no leaks in my tanks but a little while back condensated water cost me 8 new injectors so I take no chances if boat has not been used for a while I use a electric fuel pump hooked up to the filter/water seperator & pump out a couple of litres b4 heading out just to be sure.

serious amount of water. I'll have to turn both my tanks on their ear.. It's a worry.

Definately no leaks

I even pressure tested the tank in Q whilst still in boat hooked up the way it was fitted & can assure you there's no leaks.

Like I've explained B4 it's alot easier for fuel to leak out than it is for water to leak in & there's never any smell of fuel.

Think the mistake I made when I rebuilt the boat nearly 2 years back was re-making the tanks in stainless steel I didn't jerry back then what sort of heat load the alloy hull would place on the S/S tanks.

I dont generally get any water @ all but just rember how wet it has been the last few months & there's been alot of humidity in the air.

Does closing or opening the breather help (if you have one)

JG, need help, Chuck Chunder - that was Dave?
And Dave's user name on this site is?

If your boat has a sealed floor then temperature change is huge so condensation in fuel is not uncommon. That is a lot of water so I guess you have very large fuel tanks and the less fuel in the tank the more condensation you would get.

You are correct fuel will leak easier than water and as you smell no fuel especially after a trip only place water can enter is via your fuel caps. I am guessing you have sealed O rings on your fuel caps so therefore it is all condensation.

Missed the pictures of you asleep. Was Dave up to something we don't need to know about?

You should never close a breather , they are a relief exit point else your tank will expand & you risk cracking a weld

And yes the breathers are what allows air into the tank wjich then can turn into it's liquid form.

Yep Yep Dave does get sea sick so I dont venture outside if he's on board poor fulla cops it bad

CATCH22

Thats exactly what is happening but dont think many if any here have sealed floors so it's a bit hard to make them see what is happening.

Had I made the tanks out of alloy then the prob would not be there cause heat load back onto the stainless wouldn't be happening.

:o Only $2
Guess he was worried you might be a light sleeper

Thought I read somewhere that someone suffers from sea sickness, badly, and they took pills before and during any fishing trip. Maybe it was Dave.

Hey jumpy, was just thinking about it all again, and what about some sort of water trap on the breather. Might reduce the amount of water getting in. Prob wont stop it completly but could help.

Wouldn't work Rumpus, it's still air till it enters the tank thats when the heat around the hull hits the s/s tank & liquifies the H2o
