Genuine question to OZ or anyone else that knows the answer.
I have both my landline phone and my internet service through OPTUS . At the moment my internet costs me $60 a months and this gives me ( so called ) unlimited amount of use. My landline phone I pay a line rental of $29 a month, so internet and phone costs me $89 a month. Plus any calls I make. Usual landline phone bill is around $45 or there abouts. Now Optus are offering a special deal for $50 a month that covers phone rental and calls ? + internet connection with 5gb of usage. Now I don't know as yet IF this is Broadband coverage. My main question is How much is 5gb ?. My main usage now is looking at and talking on a few Fishing sites and viewing any utube clips etc that come up on the sites, as well as downloading the wrestling on utube on occasion. Probably about 1 hour in total per week in utube which would be about 4 hours a month of utubing, and about 20 hours total of loading pages from forums etc. Would 5gb be enough for what I use a computer for ?. -------------------- Frank

You should be able to check with optus (via the internet) your current internet usage and also your usage history.

I would say 5gb would be okay for what you are doing Frank. Browsing fishing forums uses next to nothing, youtube uses abit more but if you are only on it for 4 hours of the month i'd say you'd still have net left !

Thanks for the link Fed but I can't remember my password to get in and help buttons just go around in circles.
I tried as many combinations to my password as I could think of but none got me started. My optus email ? IS that the email i use every day or is it a different email I might have got when I joined optus, too many years ago now and can't remember anything about when I first joined, just been paying the monthly account for the past about 12 years or so. -------------------- Frank

Just had alook at those plans and the one I would recommend is the fusion $79 But have a read at the call cost as they stiill charge you on all plans if it is not to another optus phone as far as mobile go

I'm sure they mix up the options & pricing just to confuse the hell out of you.
Sorry I can't help you with your password Frank, ring them up & tell them the story and they will ask you some questions to confirm your identity and then they will help you. You could quite possibly do it through email too. -------------------- SEAFARER: Fine as a Fairy's Fart |

frank shop around you may be able to find other deals that are better. You can than ring optus back and tell them that you will be taking your business elsewhere unless they give you 10G (or even more) for that price.
I generally use between 5 & 10G a month and am doing a of a lot more than you on the internet from the sounds of it Kid surfing looking for games, wife surfing ,working from home regularly and skype a fair bit with video, me surfing, downloading software for work if needed ,working from home regularly and skype a fair bit with video. On top of that an xbox connected to the internet and a couple of smartphones that connect to the internet when at home to synchronize and update. 3 pc's that automatically download and install the latest patches/security fixes as well.
