I must agree ANGE, i had 5 abu's in the old days and they were the best you could get.

i will be putting these to the test on the cod and if it can handle them, then i will do a thread parsing the hell out of it, as we all know the chine are building some very fine reels and if co's like abu are to survive then they must at lest match them don't you think ????????

Was following your link Poly and got completely side tracked, check out this link and browse the products.
What a classy looking website with that magnifying glass thingy.
Some of those higher end reels look good to at the right prices.

Too bad they don't do bait runners.

Nice reels FED I like the AvocetŪ II Silver Series they look like they could do the job and the price even after the taxes ,and the postage would still be under $100.00 aud.

Nice reels FED

They were 30 odd years back very Fugly wooking back then but wun of the best

Like just about every reel these days they are built to budget in China or Taiwon else they cant be competitive on the market

Not long ago Pen International moved their operations to china for this reason & nearly went broke

Yanks being Yanks didn't want a product made in china they wanted american made & refused to buy.

Co had no choice & moved manufacturing back to USA but only with their game reels.

All their threadline reels are still made in china, these reels are actually Ryobi's rebadged to spell Penn

If the Viva ones are good I'll buy some Jumpy.
I've had quite a few old Mitchells in various sizes and found them to be very tough, remember the push button spools and the old ones has real ratchets too.
We'll give Denise's new Okuma BR a good workout this Summer.

one of the reels that get used on every outing is a Mitchell Avocet S500UL and is with out dough as good as any I have used.one of the main feachers is a quick release spool that tacks only a sec or two to change the drag is very very smooth and the gearing is strong and glitch free, the other reel used when using lightly weighted luers or plastic's is a Shimano Stradic 1000FL and i would say the mitchell is as good if not better.

here its working a good size lizard
