Couldn't decide if I should take out my alloy (not plate) boat today. It has a glass deck on it, so is it a hybrid? Is it a 1/3 boat or a 1/4 boat. Is it a driveway cruiser or a lawn ornament? Just confused me, so I went off the rocks instead.
Swell was down to a fishable level this morning, but grew as the tide came in. Water was super clear and I could see the blackfish and drummer darting around in the white water, looking for feed. Baited up and cast in, to see the float ripped down and a good fish on within seconds. I have a piece of bright red, flouro tubing on the top of my float and as it travelled down, a tailer flashed across and attacked the red tubing. Result - one lost float with leader and fish attached. Bummer. Fished for around an hour and a half, but as the tide rose, so did the swell. A couple of big green waves washed across the platform and I decided to clean the fish. The conditions only got bigger and more dangerous, so Bob and I called it quits. I ended up with nine nice blackfish and Bob scored three. A few boats came close by the platform, trolling for fish but none were hooked by them. Had a good session and the signs were there for a big improvement in catches as the fish return from spawning. Had to jump off the track on the return journey through the bush, as I nearly stepped on a big red bellied black snake. Don't know who got the biggest fright - Bob, when I jumped in the air or the snake. This post has been edited by kkw: Feb 12 2012, 10:55 PM |
