Popped out to the coast this morning to wet a line. All my mates wanted to stay in bed or had other excuses, so it was just me and the seagulls enjoying a fantastic ocean at sunrise. There was no-one else on the rocks, so that was an added bonus. Saw about 15 whales heading north in the three hours I spent there. The water was warm and extremely clear, but there were some fish around. Scores of whitebait type fish in close to the rocks and every now and then, they would explode out of the water in a silver shower. I did see a Frigate Mac smash a few, so that was interesting to see. Swells were almost non existent. The downs were very tentative but when a fish was hooked, it went like the clappers. I thought more than once, that I had a pig on the other end. I ended up with 8 fish in the 3 hours and had one mid water release smile.gif. Driving down the coast, the outside temp showed 1C. I had trouble tying hooks on, as my fingers were numb. Ahhh, the joys of winter fishing.

Nice report and nice photos, another great feed, the single photo the fish looks long and lean and the white throat variety tongue.gif

Yes Frank it was a white throat, but like wrasse and barramundi, they can change. They all turned into red throats moments after the pic was taken.
