I'm fishing the hacking tomorrow.
Boat's all fuelled up and packed and we should be on the water by 6am Gonna try and beat the tide and pump some nippers and then try for some early season Whiting. Been a while since I fished the area so virtually starting ff from scratch again. -------------------- Frank

Nothing much to write about, got there before light and was about to launch boat and Stuart said look to you right.
Looked and the sky was BLACK and rolling toward us, wind started blowing ,was already about 15 knots and the water looked green as and bloody cold. I decided to wait 10 minutes and see what happened as I didn't have any wet gear in boat and only had shorts and a shirt on and was pretty chilly. 10 minutes came and went and although NO rain, YET, decided to wait another 10. Finally decided to put the boat in for a run and MAN UP By the time Stuart had parked the car I had a wet ass and things didn't get much better. Fished my wet ass off and only came up with 2 just legal Flatts and 1 Bream which I sent back home, Stuart got 1 Flat. Only got the 1 shower for just long enough to wet me, but once your wet on a overcast day you're wet all day. Called it quits about 9.30 put boat on trailer and come home and made 2 plates of bacon and eggs, gave Stuart all the fish cause I was in no mood to clean them. Planning on doing it again on Wednesday, so guys guess what,, IT"S GONNA BE RAINING AGAIN WEDNESDAY -------------------- Frank

It's looking overcast here today (Wed) Frank but zero wind at the moment.
We went out about a week and a half ago fir a shakedown cruise to test Denise's new leg, first time since she broke it. I caught a fish & it bit me on the finger so I gave up after that. -------------------- SEAFARER: Fine as a Fairy's Fart |

Hit the water just on daybreak this morning cruised out to Mainbar and pumped about 20 nippers and a few squirt worms, thought that would be enough
for a decent session on the Whiting. Headed around to one of my favourite bays ( don't know what it's called ) between Bundeena and Jibbon and fished there with no touches, not a nibble, not even any birds about, done a troll dragging suitable lures for Flatfish and nothing. Laid a few buns of doe out and got some interest from juvenile snapper, and was wasting the nippers so decided the flats up river might be the go. Tide was just starting to rush in at this point, so I set a drift just inside the channel markers and got pestered by spikey Flathead. Got about a dozen or so before a legal 55cm job decided to commit hurry curry on my 1/0 long shank gamagatsu. Only keeper for the mornings fun. One of the best fishing days weather wise I have had for years, overcast skies and not a breath of wind, great conditions and there should have been fish about. Never seen it so barren, not even signs of small stingray that usually plague the area. Anyhow I really enjoyed the day, and it's not about the fish, days like today live in my memory for a very long time. Fed one of the pesky little spikeys got me a beauty today, first time I been spiked for donkeys, I bled like a spiked pig, even after rubbing the would on the critters belly.
