Well peeps I'm itching to give this reel out for a fish, had it about a week or so now.
A bit big for the 3kg line class that I fish & it's going onto one of my 6 kg sticks & with the run of the larger snapper due to arrive outside in the deeper water I'll definately be using it & giving it a good workout. At present only the NTM 60 size is available would've loved to have gotten my hands on a few NTM 30's suited more to the lighter 3 kg line which I fish. Just a bit of info on this reel mine was the 1st into Oz & is the sample reel so I dont have all the info stickers on it * Full Alloy Body * Hollow Anti-Twist Bail System * One way Clutch system * 13 Sealed Bearings [you could use this reel as a Roulette Wheel, that's how smooth it is] * Worm Driven Shaft [ love this system could'nt help myself I opened up the reel & pulled it apart just to have a looky] * Generous Spool Capacity 16 lbs - 170 yds 18 lbs - 140 yds * Gear Ratio 5 : 5 : 1 Yet to try out the drag system but I'm sure it's smoother & more heavy duty than the other viva reels, simply because of the over sized drag washers which can be used in this reels spool design. * Appearance wise ??????????? Haven't even spooled it up yet poly, not one of my better weeks health wise
I did get the chance to rip this paticular reel apart some 3 months back when it arrived & have been waiting since then to get my hands on it Think one can get a very good idea about a product when one pulls it apart & this reel really looks the goods. It's good to see the Boys @ Viva Aust finally bringing in some really good gear , have been using the not yet released spin reels for a couple of months & they also are a very good reel. Could've done a review on those right away but I have to wait till June sometime that's when they arrive. -------------------- Save The Fish, Eat a Pussy |

o.k. mate i will just have to wait a bit longer, i was thinking it may make a good JEW reel off the beach, and yes i do use bait feeds off the beach.
one of the thing i would like to know is just how accurately u can set the two drags and what is the max drag they can hold. -------------------- bugger it's sold, got meself a house instead

one of the thing i would like to know is just how accurately u can set the two drags and what is the max drag they can hold. Sorry mate missed this part of your post. OK the beaut thing about Dual Drags is that you dont have to use the free spool option but it's there if you want it & I allways use it when bait fishing unless of course the fish are dropping the bait, then the reel is set on strike drag. The free spooling option can be set that fine it's not funny, BUT what I find if you're going to fish this way is you cant have your rod pointing directly up in a verticle angle. It must be pointed in the direction of your line [re how I did my wittle goats rod holders] else what happens is the rod hinders the line flow & fish will drop baits if they're finicky. Jewgong can be a real bitch when it comes to dropping baits but give me a free spooling reel any day -------------------- Save The Fish, Eat a Pussy |
