The adjustment knob on the back of my little viva baitrunner is frozen, anyone got a clue how to fix it?

You could try soaking it in a bowl of wd40 of similar, not the whole reel just upend it and sit the effected area in a suitably sized bowl, you can but bulk wd40 from bunnings etc.

Good thinking Frank I'll try giving it a squirt with wd40 first, might get lucky.

Can't take it back mate it was a gift from the boys at viva, I'd bought some other stuff & they sort of threw it in for free.
HaHaHa, thinking as a joke I should pop up there & throw it on the counter, "Hey you gave me this free reel a few years ago & now it's stuck so what are you going to do about it?" The trouble is they wouldn't realise it was a joke. Actually I bet they'd fix it or give me another free one, that's what they're like. -------------------- SEAFARER: Fine as a Fairy's Fart |

Get out there Bees I feel a trolling season coming on, might even try some of that new fangled downrigging this year.
QUOTE They dont really do reels anymore market is to competative That's a shame, never heard of the crusis mine is called a nervous and still no joy. I attacked it from the rear, got its knob off (tricky) and gave it a squirt up the bum with wd40. Still locked solid and I don't want to force it yet, I'm not keen on pulling the side off because all them pesky gizmos will come flying out for sure. Not a big deal I can use it as a non baitrunner until it dies completely. -------------------- SEAFARER: Fine as a Fairy's Fart |

Does anyone know how this thing goes back together?
IMG_0083_opt.jpg ( 131.75K ) Number of downloads: 23 There could be a few missing or broken bits but that shouldn't be a problem...right? BTW Frank after seeing what was wrong inside I think your idea would have worked. -------------------- SEAFARER: Fine as a Fairy's Fart |

I dunno, but isn't that Denise's bath towel you have got grease on? I have a Shimano baitrunner in the same state as that. Didn't try to re-assemble it, but wrapped it in a cloth and put it in a drawer. Easier to go out and get a new one. Vive la Viva.

Not a bath towel KK, it's a little loincloth for doing her skinnydip run to the pool.
I see a new rod & reel in my future, decisions decisions... I do like shiny stuff. -------------------- SEAFARER: Fine as a Fairy's Fart |

IMG_0084_opt.jpg ( 107.15K ) Number of downloads: 11 Only one tiny concern I think they over greased the drag washers, may have to do a burnout to get it to pull a little more. Jumpy, ever found this a problem? Very nice reel by the way, I went for the 4000. Picked up some Viva mono to test as well, Made & Japan & packed in China. -------------------- SEAFARER: Fine as a Fairy's Fart |
