Boating What Will Happen Options

In order to go fishing you do not really need a boat. There are other options when it comes to fishing.

Once you have purchased your rod, your reel, sinker, hooks , etc. The only real expense is the bait.

I have been able to go fishing on half a kilo of bait that last me and a friend the whole day. Right now we have to tighten our belts. This is not going to be the case for everyone and some people have their belts already tighten and would be able to loosen them now. But we all do need to stop spending and start saving more so that we are not hit once again with an interest rate increase.

Well I think peeps spend to much time doing their fishing in forums like this instead of being out on the water enjoying an afternoons fishing like the good old days when we didn't have the internet.

See even I get caught up on the internet whereas b4 the net I wouldn't need a excuse to go for a fish in the arvo's even after work

Really do believe the pc makes peeps lazy & I hate those BLOODY MOBILE phones that's why peeps complain I never answer mine.

They give me the shits they run peoples lives on the golf course out on boats etc etc

It's peeps choice of lifestyles that stop them from wetting a line & not the price of fuel like I said if it gets to the stage that I cant afford fuel then I'll just have to go join Chistos out on a rock ledge.

poly I didn't say the internet was bad & yes I've met quite a few new friends from it , what I was saying is that peeps spend to much time on these type of forums/internet & not enough time outdoors doing things like fishing & enjoying ones self.

Internet is not the same as being out with someone having say a fush on a pleasant arvo & yep that last get together was a good one as peeps got to meet one another & that was thanks to the site we all have a comon interest but very few get to go out & actually wet a line for one reason or another.

I for one get very lazy & if it wasn't for some of the guys I've met on sites like this pushing me to take them out for a fish then I'd spend even more time on the computor.

That's why I initially said if fuel was $5 a litre hey I'd still go fushing

Some good reply's and opinions guys....I like Rum drive high Km's every week (round 700 in commodore and 400 in van) and the fuel bill isn't nice but have cut back on stuff to allow family life to stay comfortable-do miss taking the wife out to dinner every fortnight but we have compromised and now only do our family trip to the sports club for the raffle on fridays! I find it funny all the media beat up every week bout fuel prices and record oil barrel prices when at the bowser I'v seen little change for months...one day fuel is $1.55 a lt, next day its back down to $1.38, come long weekends its up at record prices-bloody oil companies..... someone is making a lot of money from this!

Ahhh... diesel yes, very strange indeed.

I'm from Holland where every I'm guessing every 3rd midsize car sold is fitted with a nice "clean'ish" commonrail turbo diesel , goes 190-200 km/h and is as quick of the mark as most petrol cars. Up hill (Holland??) you leave the petrol cars way behind though.

Diesel is cheaper there than petrol, but road tax is higher. Also initial purchase is higher

BUT you get much better fuel consumption 20-25% is not uncommon compared to the same car with a similar petrol engine and far less trouble with diesel engines when you get to 200000+ kilometers on them.

No it's not limited to long weekends, it happens week in week out & I think I cop it worse where I live cause whenever i'm driving through places like Sutherland or out west it allways seems to be about 4 cents cheaper.

Think the guys on the Nth Shore also cop the rough end of the pineapple as well.

60% of the petrol stations are owned by Coles/Woolleys & those A-Holes dictate prices.

Every Sunday night around 9 pm they drop their prices come Wednesday around lunch time , up they go again cause Thurday/Friday is pay day, long weekends it stays high case peeps are out & about more in their cars.

Rum, when I lived in Bowral 2 1/2 yrs ago and owned a high performance V8(yeah love my holden) which only liked to drink Premium unleaded I was paying on average $1.55 per lt, on weekends we would drive to Sydney and pay around $1.40....darn 15c difference I will never understand it.....Mind you at the time I picked the car up from QLD in 2003 I filled it up there with Premium for under 90c per lt.

Hope I win lotto one day so I can invest in oil barrels

Thats because they factor in transport to get the fuel from Sydney to Bowral.

Fuel has allways been dearer out in the country but I got a shock horror on the last couple of trips I did up Tamworth way.

Fuel up there was same price or even cheaper than in Sydney.

You should try fueling up way out west @ places like Wilcania etc , that's when you'll get a real shock

Hey - I did apologise. You wouldn't answer the door and the noises I heard coming from inside were horrible. I thought someone was strangling you, so rang the mobile to see if you answered before I drove the 10klm to the Police Station. Needed to stop and buy some lunch first, but would have been back to bash the door down within the next 3 hrs.

with this thread i was trying to generate a discussion about future boating,one of the things i see happening is the demise of the poly boat industry due to the rise and rise of oil prises this may also affect the glass boats as well after all the resin is also oil based not to sure about the cloth used in them, alloy on the other hand should suffer less of the affects from the high prices, one of the possible out comes would be for a co building glass boats is to build the hull from alloy and use a glass molding on the in side to give a better finish i do know that u can buy some boats already built this way, but they are in limited numbers at this point of time,not so much in the fishing type of boat they will be aimed at the family type all rounder.
what do u all think

Yeah agree on your point DC but when we're dealing with the big 2(woolies and coles) you would think they would work like the car dealers where the main manufacturers balance out the transport costs so the price on a new for example Pajero is the same at Whyalla as it is in Blacktown because they charge a flat transport fee regardless of where the shipment is going!

Poly, how do those alloy/glass hulls go in the logn run, I wouldn't be suprised if there were problems with the glass and alloy seperating!

One thing I'v been thinking of for a while is $1 per lt just for a day......Just so we can all stuck it to the man!!!!
I Can see it now, everyone for one day only pays cash and only $1 per litre, the police couldn't afford it to chase and fine everyone who filled up on the day let alone have the resources-it would take them off every case they're currently working on for weeks just filing the paperwork, the servo's couldn't afford to try and persue legal action against the perpetrators cause their losses on the fuel for the day plus what it would cost them in man hours alone would be too huge to imagine and for just one day we could all protest against the huge profits these bastarts are collecting from us all every time we fill up our car/boat/bike/whatever!!!!! Talk about putting the big boys between a rock and a hard place!!!! Yeah a big pipe dream but I like to dream big!!!!

poly the cheapest thing about getting a boat is actually buying it.

From then on it's who bloody knows how much you're going to spend on it.

I'm a bad case cause every so often I come up with some brain explosion which costs me a small fortune

& dont you fret about plastic being expensive raw alloy has gone through the roof in the past few years

I went to a very interesting talk the other night in regards to artificial reefs proposed off sydney by the DPI & they're planning to copy the very successfull reefs used in korea & japan & the comment was made that ordinary steel prices here in oz have soared which is making it hard to cost the project cause every month or so there's a price rise.

There's a big building/contruction boom in the asian countries @ present which is sjy rocketed metal prices over here
