Well guys I have it in my mind to take the boat for a ride out in Botany bay tomorrow. A mate finally has time to spend a few hours with me on the water so we are going to try our luck. I hear there are plenty of jackets out there so a feed of them is something to look forward to, anything else we get will be a bonus, going for a feed so hope we can get among a few.
Will let you all know IF I do any good. -------------------- Frank

Good luck Frank, I use a fine wire Trace and a small hook for Jackets on a light rod George. I made up 2 x 3hook paternoster rigs from 0.8 stainless mig wire with # 12 long shank hooks. Today they came up trumps with squire flathead ( baby ) jackets and squid. -------------------- Frank

Good one, Frank. Glad that you got something for the table. Got on the water before daybreak, was a touch windy before we launched but calmed right down by the time we got to Yarra bay, drift a couple of short runs for zilch then went over to watts reef, it was here that I discovered I left the phone in the bloody car, 3 just undersize squires (released ) and a red Morwong , first red Morwong For me so wanted a photo. Then tried for some squid but the tide was pushing us the wrong way and didn't want to anchor so went back to Yarrah, molinoux and a few more drifts picked up 2 squid then decided to troll along the beaches with not a touch so went back to drifting picked up a couple of Flathead around 45cm and 7 jackets, was going to call it a day as it was now around 11am ( no watch ) but decided to do a few more drifts and picked up another 6 squid 2 being large specimens and the rest good bait size. The boat went like a charm and I am very happy with it, worked out I think I will change it to a side console with the steering and controls about mid ship this will make it a great boat instead of a it will do boat. Will try and get out again next week sometime. -------------------- Frank
