Headed up to Lake StClair on Wed morning around 10.30 am arrived around 2.30pm.
Bigdog, the Pup, Reggie, SteveP, were already there and had the majority of the campsite set up.
Just before I arrived the guys had gone for a swim to cool off somewhat, it was pretty warm.
I unloaded my gear and put my tent up and sat down for a cup of coffee, shortly later I decided to
put the boat in the water as we were camped right down close ( but not too close ) to the water
and was looking forward to going for a fish.
10 minutes after I put the boat in the water the wind started to blow, and I decided I would leave
it for 1/2 hour to see if it settled down or not, NOT, the wind got stronger and white caps were forming all over the lake.
Well I figured It would blow itself out by about 5PM and then settle down, so I would head out then.
By 4 PM the wind was blowing at about 50 knotts and we were struggling to hold the tents down, one of the awnings ripped open with the force of the wind, there were bent poles and guy ropes all over the place and damaged tents.
The worse of it blew out after about 1/2 hour and settled down to about a steady 40 knotts.
By this time we had some tea and some talks and went to bed, frustrated by the first wasted afternoon and night.
Wind was still blowing in the morning and with it came the rain, and more rain, and then even some more rain.
God bamn it how much water can be up there in the sky waiting to fall on us ?.
Tent got saturated and I was sleeping in puddles of water, camp site a mess and everyone not real happy.
All we could do is sit and watch the rain come down and keep driving in tent pegs that had pulled out and try and repair what could be done to save the rest of the camp site from blowing away.
By 5pm Friday I had had enough and through the gear into the car, ( left the tent there, and one of the other guys will take it home for me ( hopefully the rain will stop long enough for him to pack it up )).
Steve had called it a day 1/2 hour before I decided to go.
At least I did get the boat in the water this time, and it filled up with more water while sitting in the water, Bloody water, think I have had enough rain for a while.
Very dissapointed with the way things panned out, and now looking forward to another venture, somewhere sometime.

That's the spirit. We have planned to go to Bermi on the 17th, for a week, but also a bit concerned it will be a washout or the freshwater runoff will spoil the fishing.

At least the boat managed to get put in the water this time, but that's as far as it got, dodn't leave the bank.

Steve did manage to get out before the bad weather struck for a quick session.

With camping so close to the water it makes it easy just to jump in the boat when the urge takes your fancy.

I've been told there is an area the size of France under water around the bega/tumit region.
A lot of fresh water about and it,s still coming.
5 days in the entire 3 months of summer above 30 degrees , we have had no summer and the autumn and winter look like being a very long wet spell.
Probly time to sell the boats and cop whatever comes our way.
What's a good wet weather activity to get involved in,,,,, I know,, Monopoly, snakes and ladders, ludo,
will have to see about forming a indoors sports forum.
