After many many weeks of plenty of work and fine weather the heavens opened up and after a few phone calls to re-schedule the arvo's appointments the Mrs told me to go have some quiet time down the river. Recent rain and plenty of it saw water levels very high, this was good and bad-some spots were unfishable due to the ribbon weed flush and other spots that are generally too shallow and snaggy offerred some great bass holding snags.
Started off up just below the weir, first cast into the rapids was smashed by a healthy low 40cm bass. A few more casts and no action so the other end of the pool was the next target. I cast to the likely spots for 1 surface strike and no hook-ups, sent a cast close to the bank and no-2 bass came in to say hi-this one hit the lure so hard it came clean out of the water, it ran upstream hard pulling drag and after a couple more lunges for freedom gave in and allowed a couple of happy snaps before heading back to its hidey hole. A few casts at another pool a bit further downstream resulted in nothing-the bass were there but not keen to play,.Next stop it all started to happen, 2nd cast of the spinnerbait and a small bass was caught, no more interest in the spinners so my favourite surface lure was thrown around a bit. 4 high 30 to early 40cm hard fighting fish were caught-the lure was cast-landed and seconds later was devoured by very healthy fish for the area, a few more were caught and lost in the heavy weed beds that are about 5m in front and stretch for 10-20m, bloody hard area to land fish. A greast arvo was had, photos below-enjoy. Jason

Cheers KK, I'v been on a steep learning curve for the last couple of years-still a long way to go thankfully the hard work has paid off and I am getting more consistent and the casting accuracy is saving me $$$$ on lures.
JG-that little bass hit a lure that was almost a third its size, would like to see catch eat a 30kg yft in one -------------------- AAAAHhhhhhhh, I just wanna fish!!!!
